Do you feel weighed down by memories that won’t let go, anxiety that keeps your body on high alert, or the pressure to hold it all together when you’re running on empty? Maybe you’ve spent years serving others—whether on the frontlines, in the hospital, or at home—yet inside you feel exhausted, disconnected, or stuck. You may long for peace, balance, and a way to trust yourself again. Together, we can untangle the pain of past experiences, calm the overwhelm, and build tools that help you feel grounded, resilient, and able to thrive instead of just survive.

Feeling overwhelmed by trauma, addiction, shame, depression, or anxiety? Do past mistakes or life’s challenges define how you see yourself? You may appear strong outwardly but feel stuck in negative patterns, self-doubt, or unhealthy coping strategies. You want relief, clarity, and freedom from what holds you back. You want to reconnect with your inner strength, build resilience, and redefine how you see yourself. You are not broken — you are becoming.

You’re the overachiever, the strong one, the one who puts out fires, and keeps going in a crisis. Maybe you’re even more comfortable in a crisis than those quiet moments in between. Trauma can do that. It rewires our brain for survival so the crisis is when we best perform. But crisis mode, PTSD, it doesn’t work well for everything else. It can show up as constant exhaustion, anxiety spirals, difficulty finding joy, or just not feeling like yourself.

I help children from birth to early adulthood (especially from multicultural backgrounds) who are navigating big emotions, challenging behaviors, or the impact of stress and trauma. Families come to me when they feel unsure how to support their child, seeking care that truly understands and fits their unique context. I specialize in early childhood behavioral therapy and family‑centered trauma care, helping young people feel seen and caregivers feel encouraged as they build stronger, more connected relationships. My services are conveniently virtual so families can build healthy patterns within their natural home environment.

Our ideal clients are women, particularly Black women and women of color who are used to being strong for everyone else but are now feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and disconnected from themselves. Many are navigating stress, anxiety, burnout, life transitions, or unresolved trauma while trying to maintain a sense of control in their daily lives. They often come to our practice feeling stuck in survival mode—struggling to rest, set boundaries, or prioritize their own needs without guilt. While they may appear high-functioning on the outside, internally they are seeking relief, clarity, and a more sustainable way of living.

Cognitive Processing (CPT) Therapists
How does cognitive processing therapy work?
A CPT therapist helps a client evaluate their thoughts about the trauma they experienced, focusing on maladaptive or self-blaming thoughts that can exacerbate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression. The therapist will work with a client to help them learn to challenge such thoughts and consider different perspectives. The therapist is also likely to ask a client to work on these techniques at home between meetings, such as writing an account of their trauma that can be read aloud during a future session.

What is cognitive processing therapy for PTSD?
Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy primarily used in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to treat individuals who experienced abuse or violence, who survived natural disasters, who were first responders to such incidents, or who otherwise experienced trauma.

How long does cognitive processing therapy last?
CPT is a short-term therapy. Whether conducted one-on-one or in a group, a complete set of CPT sessions typically includes 12 weekly sessions, along with tasks for clients to complete at home, although this can vary depending on a client’s needs or a therapist’s particular treatment plan. Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes.

How effective is cognitive processing therapy?
A large body of research supports the use of CPT to treat people experiencing PTSD, finding it to be effective among different age groups, either in one-on-one therapy sessions or in a group therapy environment. Research suggests that although the initial sessions may be difficult, clients tend to begin to feel positive progress after the first few sessions, and that the benefits tend to last well after the therapy ends.
