They want to lead a better life for themselves but do not know how. As a professional clinical counselor, I have helped many people find answers and improve their quality of life. My clients describe me as caring and compassionate but also straightforward and action oriented. I help people find and accentuate their strengths while letting them decide what is best for them. For the past four years I have worked with clients diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illnesses: depression , anxiety, PTSD, personality disorders, schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, existential crises, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, addiction (drugs, alcohol, pornography, gambling), and gender dsyphoria.
My focus as a Toledo mental health therapist is helping people face challenges head-on. I work with families who have a loved one experiencing dementia, professionals confronted with difficult career or ethical decisions, and clients struggling with PTSD. Other areas of interest include working with artists (musicians, visual artists, writers), helping family members repair damaged relationships, and guiding young adults struggling to find their way. What makes therapy successful is the relationship between the counselor and the client. When that is clicking, change happens and growth starts.

I offer individual therapy for adults, and I specialize in working with anxiety and depression .
We are not always kind to ourselves. We can get stuck in our thoughts, repeating past mistakes or challenges over and over, until we feel the same as we did in that difficult moment. Our problems can seem overwhelming and the solutions unclear. Even just thinking about our troubles can sometimes put us right back in the midst of anxiety, sadness, anger, and pain. With all this weighing on us, every day can become a struggle, and even getting out of bed can seem an insurmountable task.

Many individuals of all ages are faced with challenges that lead to anxiety, depression , traumatic symptoms, communication struggles, and low self confidence. With all of these challenges piling on top of one another, it makes it difficult to effectively process and complete ones daily tasks. In children and teens, these stressors often show themselves as struggling to fit in at school, low self esteem, seclusion, low motivation, and poor communication skills. Many adults struggle with the stress of daily work life balance, relationships, family dynamics, and past traumas.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
