We all have moments where we feel lost in our past and like we can't get a grip on our current daily life. It can be extremely challenging to know if your thoughts are 'normal' or if something is 'wrong' with you and even more so when you feel you do not have people in life that you can connect with on a deep level. Feeling like a crispy (burnt out) mama that isn't doing her best? Wanting some connection? I got you. This shit is hard, but I believe it may be worth it for you. I do have additional training in trauma and eating disorders.

My expertise encompasses working with women and mothers experiencing anxiety, ADHD, and/or adjusting to life transitions. I will also add, there is a plethora of conditions and lived experiences that are not pathological in nature but overwhelming nevertheless. (aka all things motherhood!) I’m talking the mental load, sensory overwhelm, mom rage and the experience of villagelessness. You don’t need to have the heavy stuff for us to work together.

You're the person others depend on. Whether you're a teacher, nurse, social worker, caregiver, or simply someone who holds themselves to high standards, you're used to showing up for everyone else. To others, you seem capable and put together. But inside, you're battling self-doubt, imposter syndrome, or a persistent sense of not being good enough. You keep pushing forward because that's what you've always done. You want to help and leave the world a little better than you found it, but it's starting to feel heavy (you can literally feel it in your body). Therapy can be a space where you no longer have to carry it all alone.

Seeking premium, concierge-style care? Let's talk. ADHD, OCD, anxiety, autism (level 1), and couples counseling are my specialties, but I can also help with other concerns listed below. An illusion! What are you hiding? Illusory Counseling was established on the notion that experiences can produce deceiving thoughts and emotions which may impact worldviews. Many individuals hide parts of themselves that they feel others will not accept, and sometimes navigation can be difficult. Life (usually) doesn't come with a GPS system and if you feel like your nervous system might implode, it may be time to seek some assistance.

As a therapist my job is not to tell you what you ought to do, but to work with you so that by working together, we can collaborate and find the most effective ways for you to achieve your goals. I also believe that often our experiences growing up create blueprints that shape our morals, ideas, and beliefs about all things in ways that aren’t always most helpful; however through intentional exploration and work we can change those blueprints.Passionate to help clients navigate life’s curveballs, I help strengthen connections&relationships with friends, partners and family

"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." --Maya Angelou. Suffering is often silent. We hold back our sadness, loneliness, resentment & shame. We think that pushing these feelings aside will allow us to live the life we desire. Yet, if you find yourself unable to move forward, I would be honored to sit alongside you as you process your story. Your pain. Your joy. Your sorrow, self-doubt and hatred. It is my goal that through my nonjudgmental ear you feel seen, heard, accepted & cared for. It is in this space that we can overcome the hardships of your past or future, & embrace the light that is within you.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
