I am also certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) and can support clients in resolving sleep difficulties.
I have worked with many clients who feel that everything they do, everything about them is just "wrong", not enough, not worthy. I strive to help clients understand that they are deserving of connection, acceptance and peace regardless of what past experience, other people, or even their own mind might be telling them. My approach is collaborative, incorporating curiosity, authenticity, openness and humor. It is through this collaborative process that I am able to help individuals gain insight into long held beliefs and patterns of behavior and to ultimately develop new ways of relating to themselves and others.

Limited openings available for new clients. Does it feel like no matter how much you give—at work or in your relationships—it’s still not enough? Maybe it’s a partner who twists your words. A parent who still makes you feel small. A boss who overloads you with work and undermines you. Perhaps your kids even treat you like the enemy.

When my clients first reach out to me, they typically have tried many strategies on their own. They are dealing with conditions and challenging life events such as anxiety, depression, illness, grief, loss, divorce, family issues, life transitions, or trauma. They feel overwhelmed, and while they know they want relief, finding their way forward has become difficult. I help my clients clarify goals, outline steps forward, and leverage their strengths to create the lasting change they seek.

My approach to therapy involves building a relationship with you as the individual who is an expert on your life experiences. I hope to grow connection between mind and body and recognize that no single therapeutic approach is right for everyone. I am trained in several evidence-based models including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness. I work with women struggling to manage anxiety, depression, trauma histories, self-esteem, and daily stressors.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
