My ideal client is open about their issues and needs and motivated to work through them. My client's goal will be to build a foundation of good mental health that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives and use to improve their own lives as well as their family and friends. My ideal client comes to therapy because they want to be there and value what they can learn from their therapist and themselves.

If I were to say if I had a type of client, it would someone that wants help. If there is a need for me to work harder than the person coming for the therapy session, then maybe they just might not yet be ready to address some of the deeper-rooted issues that led them to step out and ask for help. I know I try to remain more attuned and aware that the readiness to change is key to the success of therapy for a client. I want to work in tandem with the person to reach the goals they have set for themselves.

Life is full of ups and downs, twists and turns, and times when you feel like you’ve been given more than you can handle. This is also when you can feel the most vulnerable and have the greatest opportunity for growth. It is my purpose to support you to move past road blocks by moving one block at a time until the path is clear. I would be honored for you to share your story with me so we can begin the 2nd chapter that you write with full control.

Not accepting new clients
We are OPEN and accepting new patients with Telehealth due to the COVID 19 Pandemic. Hello. I know you are probably struggling with many things in your life to bring you here. Something happened to you when you were younger or even recently that changed your life that has caused you to have flashbacks, anxiety, depression, stress, problems in your relationships, work related problems or just feeling low and overwhelmed. You may have gone to therapy before and it did not seem to help or at least only helped for a short time and then you were flooded again with memories and negative thoughts swirling through your mind.

I provide autism evaluations and neuro-affirmative therapy services for adults in Ohio. Has anyone ever called you "too sensitive?" Maybe you've been told you're "picky," "rigid," or "overly emotional." If you've struggled to understand why things that seem to come so easily for others are more challenging for you... there might be a reason. You're not lacking. You aren't deficient. There isn't anything "wrong." Perhaps you're just wired differently. As a neurodivergent person myself, I understand how this can impact you, your daily life, and relationships.

I can't say that I have an ideal client, as every client presents with their own unique set of strengths and challenges. I find myself drawn to clients whose lives have been significantly negatively impacted by the systems they belong to. Aiding clients with the tools and resources to work on breaking those generational cycles of trauma or poverty, is one of the most rewarding experiences I can have as a therapist. I truly believe that all clients have the ability to overcome whatever challenges they may be experiencing and achieve their personal goals. My only job is to help them develop the tools to do so.

Choosing to invest your time, energy, and resources in therapy takes courage and commitment. Is there a part of you that is excited by the idea of making meaningful changes in your life? While another part of you is terrified? I understand embarking on this journey can be exciting and also scary. My goal is to create a space where all parts of you feel welcomed and accepted. We will explore your inner landscape and work together to create a more cohesive, balanced sense of being. I believe we each have the innate ability to heal from within ourselves.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
