I feel it is important to offer expert quality care that is compassionate, and tailored to each person's uniqueness as an individual. I have 38 years of clinical experience working with children, teens, families, and adults facing various life challenges. Time passes quickly. We often spend our days unhappy, and stressed. Sometimes it can be difficult to see beyond the hardships, and realize what matters most to us. If you can't change a situation, change your perspective.

Healing happens in spaces where you feel safe, understood, and supported. I work with adults navigating trauma, mood disorders, and moments of crisis that feel overwhelming or destabilizing. Many of the people I see are struggling with shame, self-criticism, or feeling like they “should” be handling things better than they are. I don’t see people as broken, I see them as people who are overwhelmed, lost, burned out, or carrying pain that hasn’t been fully processed.

You’re the one who keeps it together for everyone else, but inside, your mind won’t slow down. Many of my clients are thoughtful, analytical people who understand the “why” behind their struggles, yet still feel stuck. I work with adults and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, identity questions, and difficult relationship dynamics. I often support therapists, teachers, and professionals who spend a lot of time in their heads and want help turning insight into meaningful change.

My ideal client is someone who’s tired—tired of carrying everything, showing up for everyone else, and putting themselves last. On the outside they may look like they’re holding it together, but inside they feel overwhelmed, disconnected, and aware that past hurt or trauma has been running the show in their current life. They come to therapy not because something is “wrong,” but because they’re ready to heal, to finally deal with what’s hurt them, and to reconnect with themselves so they can feel grounded, balanced, and whole again.

In the real lives of everyday people stuff happens. Some of it hurts a little. Some of it hurts for a lifetime. I use several evidence-based therapies to help work through feelings of abuse, betrayal, danger, and damage to recover, repair, and rebuild. Finding hope and help is a great start.

In our post-Covid and politically and culturally anxious world my clients seem to be showing me that more than ever we need to identify our resilience, daily purpose and our internal "signal" versus the chaotic noise all around us! I have over 30 years of experience with lots of clients, issues, and situations, with individuals and couples. I work holistically, helping to identify what you need cognitively, emotionally, physically, and spiritually to live your best life. Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
