I feel it is important to offer expert quality care that is compassionate, and tailored to each person's uniqueness as an individual. I have 38 years of clinical experience working with children, teens, families, and adults facing various life challenges. Time passes quickly. We often spend our days unhappy, and stressed. Sometimes it can be difficult to see beyond the hardships, and realize what matters most to us. If you can't change a situation, change your perspective.

You're wanting to feel alive and comfortable in your own skin, but you find yourself freezing up or overwhelmed with images from the past or stuck in ways you can't explain. While talking about it can be helpful, if you're dealing with a trauma or ingrained stress response, it gets stuck in the body and talking alone doesn't unlock the trauma patterns in the body. Body-based modalities combined with talking really help to unwind trauma patterns. If you come see me, we won't only sit in chairs talking.

I believe therapy can be a beneficial tool to assist those who are hurting, dissatisfied, or filled with uncertainty. Sometimes we find ourselves struggling in our relationships. We may have persistent sadness or worries that get in the way of life. We may have losses that are too difficult to process on our own. Or we may feel our life has just gotten off track. There are many reasons to seek therapy. Do you want to learn and try new coping skills? Do you want to improve a relationship? Do you want help working through a problem in your life? I can help. I offer therapy in-person or online and have evening availability.

Congratulations on taking the first step towards positive change. Please know that I appreciate & respect clients from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, sexuality, socioeconomic background, ethnicity, & religion. I welcome children, adolescents, adults, traditional & modern families/couples. Because therapy is not “one size fits all,” I utilize more of an eclectic approach to the process, and treat every client as the unique individual that YOU are.

My ideal clients are adults who feel stuck — carrying stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or the weight of past experiences they haven’t been able to shake. Some are navigating addiction or rebuilding after a setback. Others simply know something needs to change but aren’t sure where to begin. Whatever brings them in, we work together to build insight, develop real coping skills, and take steady steps toward a more stable, grounded life.

My ideal client feels emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns, or burdened by past trauma. They may be navigating anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, or life transitions. Many are ready to process painful experiences through EMDR and build healthier emotional habits. They want to feel more in control, improve communication, and find peace with their past. Most of all, they want to feel seen, supported, and empowered to create meaningful, lasting change.

Services are designed to be brief and solution-focused in nature. The goal is to assist clients in identifying and mobilizing their own coping skills and natural supports as well as learning new skills and ways of dealing with their environment. The goal of treatment is not solution of problems, but rather the enhancement and development of skills to enable the client to engage in effective problem solving once out of the office.

You may be the person everyone relies on while quietly feeling emotionally exhausted underneath it all. Maybe your mind never slows down, the mental load feels nonstop. Many of my clients are women, mothers, and adults with ADHD who appear "fine" on the outside while internally feeling scattered, overstimulated, anxious, or emotionally drained. I work with women, mothers, adults with ADHD, and individuals navigating life transitions, including prenatal and postpartum seasons. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in compassion.

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counseling for seniors and the elderly different from counseling for other age groups?
In general, counseling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialize in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counseling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counselors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counselors specializing in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counselors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
