You don’t have to walk through this alone. If you've experienced trauma—especially the kind that’s hidden, denied, or dismissed by others—you may carry pain that feels unspeakable. As a therapist who has personally survived abuse and has spent 25 years helping others heal from sexual, ritual, and spiritual trauma, I offer a grounded, compassionate presence that can hold what others cannot.

You're wanting to feel alive and comfortable in your own skin, but you find yourself freezing up or overwhelmed with images from the past or stuck in ways you can't explain. While talking about it can be helpful, if you're dealing with a trauma or ingrained stress response, it gets stuck in the body and talking alone doesn't unlock the trauma patterns in the body. Body-based modalities combined with talking really help to unwind trauma patterns. If you come see me, we won't only sit in chairs talking.

I feel it is important to offer expert quality care that is compassionate, and tailored to each person's uniqueness as an individual. I have 38 years of clinical experience working with children, teens, families, and adults facing various life challenges. Time passes quickly. We often spend our days unhappy, and stressed. Sometimes it can be difficult to see beyond the hardships, and realize what matters most to us. If you can't change a situation, change your perspective.

Do you find yourself struggling to feel truly happy, no matter what you do? Are you someone whose life looks "good" from the outside, and yet it still feels like something is missing? Maybe you are not happy with some of the choices you are making and feel the need to make some changes. Maybe a life event has highlighted the fact that you're still not as happy or content as you want to be. Or maybe you just want to gain deeper insight into yourself and your past experiences, and you're ready to start creating new patterns in your life.

•Nature-Based EMDR open• Many of the clients I work struggle to identify and express how they feel and what they need. They are deeply attuned to others' needs while quietly struggling with overwhelm, burnout, perfectionism and difficulty honoring their own boundaries. Denying your own needs can make it hard to stay connected to yourself and your relationships — you can only "go with the flow" so long before you're totally lost in the current. Therapy can help you understand these patterns, develop self-compassion, and strengthen your capacity for true connection.

Hello, I'm Justin. I knew for quite a while that I wanted a career which gave me the opportunity to help others. My original plan was to be a teacher. Then, I worked with individuals with developmental disabilities for almost 10 years, before finding the world of mental health. Since then, I’ve provided many services in a variety of settings. I’m a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Ohio and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Kentucky, currently offering individual therapy to clients aged 13 and up. I mainly use an approach that includes DBT-informed and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies.

You may be the person everyone relies on while quietly feeling emotionally exhausted underneath it all. Maybe your mind never slows down, the mental load feels nonstop. Many of my clients are women, mothers, and adults with ADHD who appear "fine" on the outside while internally feeling scattered, overstimulated, anxious, or emotionally drained. I work with women, mothers, adults with ADHD, and individuals navigating life transitions, including prenatal and postpartum seasons. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in compassion.

I have a passion for treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and Autism.
My goal as a clinician is to work with a variety of individuals to improve their wellbeing. I aim to both discover and support areas of growth and strengths so that individuals may effectively address any concerns. I have training and experience in psychological testing. I provide ADHD and Autism testing for children and adults. I aid in clarification or in differentiating a diagnosis and provide documentation for schools for IEP or 504 Plan management. Testing provides individuals with a tool to better understand their symptoms, provides a diagnosis for clarity, and provides recommendations for growth and realization of potential.

Depression Therapists
What is the goal of therapy for depression?
Therapy for depression has several major goals. One is to relieve the mental pain of depression, which distorts feeling and thinking so that sufferers cannot see beyond their current state of mind or envision feeling better. Another is to give people the mental tools to recognize and correct the kinds of distorted thinking that turn a problem into a catastrophe and lead to despair. Therapy also teaches people how to process negative emotions in constructive ways, so they have more control over their own emotional reactivity. And it helps people regain the ability to see themselves positively, the motivation to do things, and the capacity for pleasure.

What happens in therapy for depression?
Perhaps most important, no matter the type of therapy, patients form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Patients learn to identify and to challenge their own erroneous beliefs and thoughts that amplify the effects of negative experiences. They learn to identify situations in which they are especially vulnerable. And they learn new patterns of thinking and behaving. They may be given “homework” assignments in which they practice their developing skills. In addition, good therapists regularly monitor patients to assess whether and how much the condition is improving.

What therapy types help with depression?
Several types of short-term therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) helps clients challenge their negative thoughts and beliefs, learn new behavioral strategies, and curb reactivity to distressing situations. Behavioral activation (BA) is a form of therapy often used in conjunction with CBT; it focuses on engagement in rewarding activity as a pathway to changing negative feelings and disturbed mood. Another widely used approach is interpersonal therapy (IPT), which targets the social difficulties that both give rise to and get exacerbated by depression. Therapists may combine approaches as needed.

Can therapy for depression be done online?
Studies have found that online therapy can be highly effective for treating depression, although it may be more challenging to build a good therapist-patient alliance on screen than in person—at least at first. However, online therapy can offer considerable advantages. Accessibility and convenience are tops among them. Some people actually find it easier to talk about problems online than in person. While online therapy typically limits visibility of facial expression and body gestures that give important nonverbal cues to a patient’s state of mind, it can give therapists a glimpse into a patient’s world and life, providing information that can be highly useful in guiding therapy.

How effective is therapy for depression?
Many studies show that therapy is highly effective provided that patients complete the prescribed course of therapy, commonly 16 to 20 sessions. Over the long term, it is more effective than medication and the effects are more enduring. As a result, psychotherapy has the power not just to relieve current suffering but to prevent future episodes of the disorder. Therapy reverses the dysfunction in neural circuitry that disposes individuals to a negative view of themselves, the world, and their future and they acquire coping techniques, problem-solving skills, and understanding of their own vulnerabilities that are useful over the course of a lifetime.
