You don’t have to walk through this alone. If you've experienced trauma—especially the kind that’s hidden, denied, or dismissed by others—you may carry pain that feels unspeakable. As a therapist who has personally survived abuse and has spent 25 years helping others heal from sexual, ritual, and spiritual trauma, I offer a grounded, compassionate presence that can hold what others cannot.

I'm happy you are here. I work with people and couples who are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or postpartum. Maybe you are struggling with the agony, stress, and pain that can come from trying to conceive and dealing with infertility. Maybe you are in the midst of incredible grief after a pregnancy loss. Maybe you are pregnant and experiencing anxiety about the safety of your child. Or you may be newly postpartum, grappling with the all-encompassing changes that come with the transition to parenting. I understand the difficulties that come with expanding your family.

You want your life to be different. You’d love to be able to relax and just be present, but this restlessness inside your mind and body won’t allow you. You’ve attempted to “let it go” or “forgive and forget” the past. You’ve tried LOTS of coping mechanisms: journaling, deep breathing, prayer, meditation, self-help books, talk therapy. You know yourself well, and you know how to cope. But you don’t just want to cope through life or talk about what happened; you want to experience change!

I use an integrative approach tailored to each client, often drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment-based therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies.
Do you feel disconnected from yourself as you move through major life transitions—whether becoming a mother, adjusting to co-parenting after divorce, or navigating changes in your family, identity, or daily life? Do you find your own needs constantly pushed aside while you focus on everyone else? Many mothers experience shifts in identity during these seasons, often alongside anxiety, overwhelm, and uncertainty about who they are outside of caregiving roles. Therapy offers a space to slow down and reconnect with yourself.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
