My priority is to invite clients who have marginalized identities to feel both safe and challenged in my (virtual) office, and to help them build the skills and confidence they need to grow into the version of themselves they hope to be. We will focus on your whole self, your experiences, relationships, and environments, and how these impact your emotions, thoughts, and beliefs about yourself and the world. I enjoy working with adults managing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, identity development, and relationship concerns. My ideal client wants to be challenged, wants to grow, and is ready for the work of therapy and healing.

Here to provide guidance and hold space as you shift the paradigm and awaken the healer within. Calling out the oppressive systems which cause dis-ease (including an oppressive mental health system) in order to build a community of folks invested in a personal and collective healing. Deep understanding and emphasis on trauma education and transformation, breath and body integration, and mindfulness.

I work with adults who are looking for a compassionate, grounded space to show up authentically and explore what they’re carrying. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodiversity (ADHD and Autism), eating disorders, identity exploration, and major life transitions. They often come to therapy wanting to feel understood, supported, and empowered as they make sense of their experiences. I help clients move forward by creating a collaborative environment where they can feel seen, validated, and encouraged to grow at their own pace.

I have extensive experiences supporting those with anxiety, trauma, religious wounding, disordered eating, and body image distress.
So many of us have had to disconnect from ourselves to survive in some way, often due difficult experiences that overwhelmed our capacity to cope. As a result, you may be finding that the way you relate to yourself is negatively impacting how you show up in your life and relationships. Perhaps you find yourself engaging in patterns that are harming you, despite efforts to stop—leaving you feeling stuck, alone, or even broken. I'm here to help you find new ways of relating to yourself, and equip you with tools for navigating life more effectively. Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, we will work together to find healing.

My practice is based less on presenting issues and more on fundamental assumptions about humanity: 1) Any client I work with is doing the best they can in the moment I meet them, 2) all people respond to compassion and understanding, and all people are injured by shaming and 3) two opposing things can be true at the same time, and much of our suffering is an inability to sit with that belief. Whoever you are and whatever your reason for seeking treatment, I will meet you exactly where you are the moment you walk in my virtual door. I consider myself your partner in your journey to find and be your most authentic self.

Ideal clients are grieving individuals, therapists seeking their own processing space, people pleasers, HSPs/neurodivergent individuals, music industry professionals, LGBTIQ+ folks, and creatives. Clients who enjoy therapy with me are insight-oriented folks, seeking a consistent, relational space to have a depthful, exploratory and sometimes playful therapeutic work environment. It is my belief that the counseling process must be tailored to meet the individual’s needs. You may want to address the ways past experiences have shaped your life, learn skills to help cope with the issues you are currently facing, find a deeper meaning in your life, or move towards healing. Whatever your goals, we will work together to determine a way forward that will be most effective for you.

A lot of people come to therapy feeling like they should have figured it out by now. Maybe you are holding everything together on the outside, but inside you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, exhausted, or unsure of what comes next. You might be navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, relationship wounds, shame, burnout, or old patterns that keep showing up even though you are trying really hard to move differently. I want you to know that you do not have to do this alone. Therapy is a space where you can slow down, be honest, and not have to carry everything by yourself for once. You do not need to have all the answers before you start.

Body Image Therapists
How does body image affect mental health?
Poor body image can influence mental health because it can reduce self-esteem and decrease functioning in other areas of one's life. Negative body image may hinder someone's ability to perform daily tasks, including professional and social responsibilities, because they may feel self-conscious or shame surrounding their appearance; a desire to change one's body as a result of negative body image can also trigger behaviors such as extreme dieting, excessive exercise, or obsessive social media comparison. Poor body image is associated with a number of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and eating disorders, although many people experience negative body image even in the absence of meeting the diagnostic criteria for any mental health disorders.

What does it mean to have a positive body image?
Body image refers to how one internally perceives their appearance and internally "talks" to themself about their body. Positive body image is therefore indicative of a positive perception of one's self and positive internal self-talk that underscores one's strengths. People who have good body image often have higher self-esteem, self-worth, and self-confidence, and they also often recognize how external factors, such as social media or relationship patterns, can influence body image. While body image can change at different life stages and in response to various triggers, practicing self-acceptance and a body-positive mindset can help maintain a more stable sense of positive body image.

Is body image the same as self-esteem?
Body image and self-esteem are often related, but they are distinct concepts. Self-esteem is a broader term that can be shaped by a number of factors outside of body image, including one's functioning at school or in the workplace; it refers to one's capacity to handle various life challenges. Poor body image can be one way in which one's self-esteem is reduced. Reduced self-esteem as a result of poor body image can cause individuals to feel negative about their appearance, withdraw from social interactions, and/or rely on harmful behaviors as a coping mechanism. A "body positive" approach to body image therapy is therefore often used to encourage a more positive view of one's self and thus encourage better self-esteem.

What type of therapy is best to foster a positive body image?
The type of therapy best suited to improve body image depends on each person, as there is not a single therapy specific to body image improvement. That said, many individuals with poor body image benefit from therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based therapy. CBT can be used to help challenge distorted or negative thoughts about one's body, while ACT and mindfulness practices can facilitate a more positive body image through self-acceptance and identification of one's personal strengths. Regardless of treatment type, clients should look for body image therapists who encourage the development of a sense of self outside of their external appearance and help clients reduce unwanted behaviors developed as a result of poor self-esteem, such as dieting or disordered eating patterns.
