Hello I'm Shannon Smith, Licensed Independent Social Worker and Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist. My great passion is bringing healing to people who have endured a traumatic/stressful experience/s. It is not uncommon for their lives to unravel in the aftermath of such turmoil. I help my clients discover a positive self-perception and strengthen their relationships so they can feel a sense of peace, wholeness & safety. I have dual roles working as a civilian Therapist & Social Work Officer in the Army. My personal/professional endeavors have provided me with an array of useful skills, that I use to relate with others.

Life can be overwhelming and tough for many reasons: addictions, domestic violence, trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, challenges with major life transitions, or parenting issues. Sometimes, we need help moving forward and healing as I did in many of these same areas. Do you want lasting relief & a return of CALM to your after 3 Accelerated Resolution Therapy sessions on average? Need someone who "has your back" & gets "YOU" & your struggles? I will walk WITH you until you naturally know what to do on your own & your CALM is back. What I AM: Authentic, Empathetic, Fun, Collaborative & Empowering as you solve stressors with more PEACE. What I do NOT treat: substance use, infidelity, serious mental illness or if closed to medical or psych coordination, if necessary.

Being a kid is no easy feat! As a School Psychologist, I work to create a partnership that addresses challenges, and differences and helps teach new skills. I provide comprehensive evaluations for diagnostic clarity related to Autism, ADHD, Giftedness, Dyslexia, Learning Disabilities, Anxiety, and Depression. In addition to assessment, I provide individual counseling for children experiencing anxiety, difficulties with impulse control, social skills, and executive functioning challenges. I also partner with parents for behavior support, especially for toddlers and kids. I am a fierce advocate for LGBTQIA+ youth and their families.

Compass was founded with the vision of empowering individuals who are struggling with emotional, behavioral, social, or other challenges to utilize their strengths to achieve their goals. These goals vary by individual; clients may present with goals to improve their academic or occupational functioning, foster healthier relationships, take control of powerful emotional responses, or (most commonly) to get answers about the sources of their struggles through psychological testing that we use to inform individualized treatment planning. My job is to provide answers to these questions and work with you to achieve success.

I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of presenting issues and specialize in treating eating disorders, body image disturbances, depression and other mood disorders, personality difficulties, relationship struggles, and anxiety/panic disorder. I also specialize in psychological/psychoeducational testing to assess learning abilities, attention, cognitive skills, and intelligence. My treatment approach is very individualized and I tend to focus on both current symptoms/behaviors and the origins of a person's struggles.
