I know you have tried everything you could. You’ve done the research and reached out for help. You may have blamed yourself, asking ‘Why didn’t I see this sooner?’ ‘Why didn’t I notice they were losing weight?’, ‘Why is it still so hard, we’ve been going to therapy? Or ‘they’re eating more, why are things still so tense?’ If you are feeling lost, hopeless, frustrated, angry, confused and discouraged, you are not alone. If you feel like no one understands and nothing has helped, you are not alone.

Anxious perfectionists go through perpetual guilt, shame, and self-punishment. No matter how hard you try, you're always falling short. It's exhausting, but you don't really know how to relax and probably don't sleep so well. Maybe you're first-generation, or the sibling who had to keep it together, or a grown-up "gifted and talented" kid. Anxious perfectionism may also show up as body tension, severe procrastination and indecision, and difficulty with boundaries and people-pleasing. Perfectionists don't do things perfectly—they feel like they ALWAYS have to do better. You may not even be sure if you can call yourself a good person.

You just want to feel better. Traumatic experiences have turned you into someone you don’t even recognize. You’re constantly on edge and can’t sleep. If sleep does come, it’s often restless and filled with nightmares. Your creativity, performance, and professionalism is suffering. You often feel tremendous guilt and shame; no one understands what it's like. Or maybe you stuff the hurt, pain, and disappointment down deep, so no one sees it. You know how to put on a good, happy face for everyone. The emptiness and loneliness feel unbearable. Or maybe this describes your loved one who you can’t seem to reach no matter how hard you try.

As a Christian in my 40s with over 18 years of clinical experience in Marriage and Family Therapy, I view life as a journey filled with learning opportunities characterized by twists and turns. These experiences can either trap us in a cage or empower us to reach new levels of growth. This journey requires courage—the choice to remain on a familiar path or to embrace the adventure of change. Christian counseling offers tools, support, and, most importantly, empowerment for this adventure. I am deeply committed to empowering my clients, and I want to assure you that I will be with you every step of the way on this empowering journey
