I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in athlete mental health and wellness, sports performance, and transition. My experience comes from individual and group therapy in community mental health agencies, school settings and crisis facilities. I have worked with teens and adults with a variety of presenting issues, including stress and anxiety, coping with grief and loss, motivation, self-esteem and confidence, life transitions, career changes and depression. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment.

I am very comfortable working with individuals dealing with family of origin issues, childhood emotional neglect, trauma, depression, anxiety or going through a career change. I also work well with individuals who consider themselves highly sensitive. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic Theory, Mindfulness and Rogerian/Humanistic theory. I am also trained in EMDR. Currently I serve as an outpatient counselor in a primary care clinic to adults struggling with substance abuse, domestic violence, trauma, mood disorders, anxiety and depression.

I’ve had the joy of working in the counseling field for over 25 years in multiple settings including: private practice, inpatient and outpatient, home-based, school-based and residential detox. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the states of Ohio, West Virginia and North Carolina and have been offering counseling services since 1996. Currently, I also serve on the West Virginia Certification Board for Addiction & Prevention Professionals.

I believe that one of the goals of therapy should be for a person to see a clear path to achieving life dreams. This often occurs through in-depth self study and examination, as well as telling one's story, and becoming comfortable with that story relative to a life situation. Through therapy, an individual develops the confidence he/she needs to face life and all its complications. A variety of treatment methods may be necessary to achieve the goals of therapy and a therapist should be willing to explore options based on the individual needs of his/her clients.
