I offer individual sessions as well as as well as co-lead an Adolescent DBP-IOP group for teens.
I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative partnership where we can work together to problem solve, explore emotions, process experiences, and create the internal & external changes necessary to help you reach your goals. My hope is that you would find therapy to be a safe and enriching space for you to unselfishly focus on becoming the best possible version of yourself. It is a beautiful and empowering experience when we are able to accept ourselves fully as we are, while also changing in the ways that are needed.

Additionally, I assisted in developing the Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program and Parenting Group.
I work with both adolescents and adults using a compassionate and caring approach that includes skills based training for practical outcomes based on their values and goals. Using a collaborative approach, we will work to solve problems using skills and move through challenges in the most effective way possible. I use both person-centered and motivational interviewing styles with an emphasis in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to assist patients in staying present in the moment while preparing to move forward. I accept patients where they are now and work with them to learn about their diagnosis and move ahead in their lives.

I specialize in anxiety disorders, adolescent issues, marital/relationship issues, and family conflicts.
As a clinical counselor, I have always had a passion for helping people, and truly value the therapeutic relationship. I form genuine connections by providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment, virtually and in person. I am a great listener, and if that's all you need that's okay. If you aren't sure what you need, that's okay too! I can help people discover their strengths and confront their weaknesses. My treatment methods vary depending on the person and their needs, but I tend to be client-centered and solution-focused with my counseling interventions. My approach is supportive, honest, realistic, and understanding.

There are times where our struggles and emotions can make us feel out of control and become difficult to manage on our own. We have so many experiences throughout our life that, at times, can be difficult to heal from. Navigating adulthood can be overwhelming and can often leave us feeling lost and uncertain. Our bodies and minds go through many seasons of life - accepting ourselves throughout that journey can be hard. I hope to help create a safe, nonjudgmental space to allow you to manage your emotions, develop a sense of purpose, and build upon your internal resiliency.

Every experience we have shapes how we view ourselves and the world. How we are raised, our traumas, and current and past relationships, both familial and intimate, all have an impact on who we are. My approach to counseling/ coaching is to help recognize that you absolutely have the power to change the things you don't love about your life- let's put the power back into your hands. You will learn how to best serve you, and unlearn things that no longer serve you. My hope is for you to gain the confidence to work through hardships as they arise in the future.

What if all of those negative thoughts just didn’t bother you anymore? What if you could find a healthy way to not only process them, but let them go? Does it ever feel like you have a dark cloud hanging over yourself. Constant negative thoughts running through your mind. Maybe memories of trauma or negative experiences that creep up constantly. They may have happened years ago, but to you, it feels like yesterday. Life can be difficult enough without also having to fight negative thoughts and feelings in your own mind. It’s exhausting. And worst of all, it can stop you for accomplishing your goals and living your best life.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
