Every person at times experiences difficult problems which they have trouble coping with. In the midst of their problem, it is common to only see despair and hopelessness. But there is always some meaning that can be found in problems, and always some way a difficult situation can be made better. There is a Finnish saying: "However much there is that is bad, there is always some good in it." I collaborate with my clients in finding solutions they never thought of, consider approaches they never tried, and replace self-defeating attitudes with more productive ones

I've also taught at three different schools, both at the Bachelor's and Master's levels, and supervised interns from many different schools as they learn how to help others.
I love to work with folks who are looking for a kind and compassionate alternate perspective on the struggles they're currently going through. I'm convinced that I'm not the expert in anybody else's story, but if you show me a window into your life experience, I'm confident that I can help you develop a plan for the best way to move forward. I'm passionate about offering support and helping people learn and grow into a happier, healthier future. I know that your challenges might seem insurmountable right now, but I honestly believe that you have a whole lot more resiliency than you know.

Let's explore what sexual freedom looks like for you. You are good even with all of your sexual desires. Hi, my name is Yub. I am bilingual in Korean and English. Sex should be enjoyed with pleasure and explored without judgment. However, the messages we receive throughout life make it harder to be true to our sexuality. You will have a safe space to talk about sexual/intimacy difficulties, access your desires, explore kinks, or discuss open/polyamorous relationships. Some of the techniques I use may include exploring through narrative or role-playing. I'm an active member of LGBTQIA+ and the kink community.

We are all hu man at the end of the day.
I have served those with Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Family Issues, etc. My ideal client is motivated to roll up their sleeves and engage in the therapeutic process. They have an open mind and can practice effective coping skills to improve their overall functioning and quality of life. They can challenge themselves to be vulnerable and practice accountability while processing their problematic thinking patterns and behaviors in a safe and non-judgmental environment. They wish to engage in therapy because they realize that they need to make a change and are willing to take a leap of faith to make it happen.

At times we all get overwhelmed or find situations and emotions difficult to manage. It is important to remember you do not have to go through it alone and that there are tools to help you through life's stressors and challenges. I am here to help you find those tools and strategies for coping and even thriving in difficult times. I have always been motivated to help because people do typically feel better with counseling, therapy, and some objective guidance. People do get better.

I believe that all people struggle with signs and symptoms of stress, anxiety and/or depression at some point in their lives. We are social creatures and we need to feel a sense of community or belonging with others. We need to feel connected with those people who are willing to listen, share their life experiences, and guide us to a better way of coping with the uncertainties of life. This is the reason I entered the counseling profession; to be that safe harbor in the storm. Whether you see me or another therapist, please know that you do not have to struggle on your own.

As an individual with a visual impairment, I know what it's like to have to navigate through the de mands of life while facing outside influences.
Life can be difficult. Work, relationships, school, and the various other de mands can cause someone to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or depressed. Add to these common de mands the influences of ADHD, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other forms of mental illness and navigating through life can feel impossible. I provide a comfortable, client-centered environment for exploration and processing in order to make life more manageable.

The most rewarding aspect of my work as a therapist is supporting my clients in connecting with their values and learning new ways to break through mental barriers and overcome life challenges. By becoming more aware of the nature of the mind and our relationship to it, we are better able to open up and willingly take steps toward becoming the sort of person we want to be, deep in our hearts. This opens the door to a better understanding of how beliefs and attitudes towards ourselves, others, and the world have become conditioned, and how earlier life experiences have impacted and shaped our sense of self over the course of time.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
