Whatever your struggle, it is my joy and honor to join God’s work in your life and collaborate with you in meeting your goals.
Thinking and feeling in ways that allow you to engage your daily life, others, and your personal goals with energy, creativity, and effectiveness is the thrust of my approach and practice. Identifying patterns that restrict cognitive and behavioral functioning, preventing understanding and integration of personal and interpersonal dynamics is a key focus. Increasing self awareness and understanding through enhancing mindfulness, expanding thinking about self and others, and developing behavior patterns that mobilize personal strengths, assets, and motivation is the goal of the work.

I am now able to provide telepsychology through a secure platform for video and audio. The program works with most computers and some smartphones. Telepsychology services are supported by most insurances. Over 30 years of practice, I have found it helpful to focus therapy on four areas: (1) the quality of a person's relationships and how these relationships impact the person's primary emotional concerns, (2) how the person's primary emotional problems impact their loved ones, (3) developing coping skills for particular emotional problems and (4) practical problem solving solutions for various life issues.
Counseling is a partnership between the client (that's you) and the provider (that's me). My role as counselor is to meet you where you are, provide support and clarification when needed, and help you develop the tools/skills you need to accomplish your goals.
People strive to create meaningful relationships. Many enter psychotherapy because that need isn't being met, wasn't met, or because they fear it won't be met. People feel/behave for reasons often outside awareness. Attempts to master psychological pain determine why people behave consistently, predictably, and sometimes self-destructively. The therapeutic relationship is determined by my ability to provide a safe forum for examining thoughts, feelings, and behaviors by maintaining a nonjudgmental, empathic rapport. Successful treatment integrates cognitive and emotional components of people developing increasing self-awareness. It includes supportive and interpretive interventions, while also leveraging strengths.
My personal life, professional training and work experience has truly enabled me to assist and support individuals and couples in a caring atmosphere without judgment or prejudice. I am passionate to help you unravel the issues that you want resolved in your life and move on while learning about your strengths and resilience in this process. We all have challenges and encounter road blocks but I believe that I can help you be your own strong advocate to implement effective ways to manage such challenges.
I practice with the belief that therapy can be a rich and vital exploration into understanding the deepest parts of our selves: the parts we cherish as well as the parts we want to change. We all have unconscious patterns that can get in the way of living the life we want to lead. These patterns can manifest as anxiety, depression, phobias, physical illness or pain, addiction, even rage. These symptoms can affect relationships, work, self esteem, creativity, and sexuality. Change is possible when these patterns can be expressed and understood in an open, and accepting space.
I enjoy counseling men, women and teens from all walks of life. Often men and women who come to counseling are not sure what to expect from the process. I will listen to your stories of where you have been, where you are now and where you hope to be in the future. Together we will try to find the solution that works best for you. Over the years, I have counseled individuals with mood disorders, anxiety, substance abuse and trauma.
