You deserve to live a life that energizes and excites you to get out of bed each day (or at least after that first cup of coffee)! You deserve to feel your best so you can be the best version of yourself in every situation. Many people come to coaching or counseling because they feel overwhelmed, stuck, lacking purpose/direction, or want help moving past obstacles they've felt in front of them for years. I understand because I have been there too. After years as a clinical counselor I started to realize that what I want to do more than anything else is to give people a true sense of their worth, purpose, and direction in life!
NO CALLS PLEASE The majority of my clients come from this website, colleagues, and referrals from current or former clients. Nothing motivates like pain. Painful experiences change what we believe about ourselves, others, and the world around us. These beliefs act as catalysts for the choices we make (past and present). When our choices (or our reactions to those of others) cause pain; the pain motivates us to change. We can't change other people, but we can change ourselves. When we change, a ripple effect occurs resulting in outcomes we never expected much less imagined.
Everyone encounters difficult and challenging experiences in life, and counseling can be a powerful tool for growth. My goal as a counselor is to help create a genuine, warm, and supportive therapeutic relationship in which clients feel safe to explore and grow. I help clients to clarify what is important in their lives, set meaningful goals, and make changes that lead to increased awareness and authenticity. Recognizing and building on strengths, improving coping skills, and increasing mindfulness is emphasized.
My approach to therapy is both focused on finding solutions and gaining understanding. First, I believe it is important to incorporate effective coping skills to mitigate the effects of any mental health concern. It is then often necessary to build insight as to the causes of these concerns in order to change problematic patterns in how we relate to ourselves and others. Anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship matters - I attempt to foster self-compassion and understanding in order to lighten the burden of difficult life situations.
Are you desiring to feel more confident in yourself and to have healthier, more fulfilling relationships? Are you seeking freedom and hope in ongoing areas of struggle? Wanting more for yourself is adaptive. Seeking help is healthy. By reaching out for support, you can bring yourself closer to the relief and change that you desire from the comfort of your own home.

LIMITING NEW CLIENTS TO THOSE SEEKING GROUP COUNSELING FOR EATING DISORDERS. Individual counseling available ONLY for clients participating in the eating disorder group due to my limited availability. Therapy is an opportunity for you to have support in taking a look at your life and yourself to make a change. Taking a new approach to face your challenges requires courage. I believe that allowing yourself to connect with others, such as in a group, can be an invaluable part of the healing process.
I ascribe to an Existential/Humanistic theoretical approach to counseling. I am interested in working with the LGBTQ community, those with chronic pain problems, chronic health problems, dissociative disorders, severe and persistent mental illness, women's issues, and suicide prevention. I enjoy helping people learn to cope and assist them in finding a resolution to the difficulties they experience in life. I do not work with couples or do relationship counseling.
I believe all people have the ability to overcome even the most dis-empowering obstacles, and sometimes we need help finding the way to do this. I work across a range of mental health and addiction concerns, to help you, to help yourself. I believe you are the expert in your own life, and am honored by the opportunity to help you tap into your expertise. My practice uses principles of Mindfulness, compassion, personal empowerment, and hope. Together, we will discover your strengths, and learn how to use your own power to conquer challenges, to grow, and heal.

My name is Lewis Nevins and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor at Professional Counseling and Consulting, in Kettering Ohio. I work with Veterans, First-Line Responders, Counselors as well as Clients with PTSD, C-PTSD, DID and Attachment wounds. I also provide communication enhancement skills for Couples, Blended Family Issues and Co-Parenting Concerns.
I have been working with individuals, couples and families for over 36 years. My experience both professionally and personally has taught me that all of us may experience problems coping with life's changes. I see therapy as helping people maximize their individual strengths while learning to problem solve their own issues. I believe the primary ingredients for therapy are respect, compassion and understanding. I feel I can offer this to anyone who comes to work with me.
"Now accepting New Clients" I am a Licensed Professional Counselor that uses a collaborative approach drawing from evidenced based treatment models such as Brief Psycho-dynamic approach, CBT, Functional Family Therapy, Solution Focused, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Brain-spotting. Our work together will be customized to fit your needs. I work with individuals, families, teens, children ages 7 and up dealing with a variety of issues. My specialties include family trauma, childhood trauma, grandparents raising grandchildren, and parenting issues.
Relationships are complicated, parenting is hard and life is messy. Understanding these truths has given me the desire to help people who are struggling. No matter how overwhelming or insignificant you think the problem is, developing a counseling relationship can be beneficial. I will journey with you as you develop goals, coping strategies and communication skills. I honor that families are diverse in composition and adapt treatment to the individual needs of each client. I use a systemic approach and have a wide array of experience with grief counseling, anxiety, depression, women's issues, spiritual concerns, infidelity, life transitions, play therapy, infertility, elder concerns and self-esteem issues.
You're wanting to feel alive and comfortable in your own skin, but you find yourself freezing up or overwhelmed with images from the past or stuck in ways you can't explain. While talking about it can be helpful, if you're dealing with a trauma or ingrained stress response, it gets stuck in the body and talking alone doesn't unlock the trauma patterns in the body. Body-based modalities combined with talking really help to unwind trauma patterns. If you come see me, we won't only sit in chairs talking.
