Trauma can leave lasting effects on both the mind and body, making it difficult to cope or feel like yourself again.
These experiences can stem from accidents, abuse, disasters, or even the demands of intense occupational roles, and can often leave you feeling isolated and alone. I offer nearly four years of trauma-informed counseling experience, with a background in both community mental health and residential psychiatric care.

Over the past decade as a trauma counselor I've developed a specialty in supporting neurodivergent adults and adults living with disability or chronic illness.
Therapy is something we'll do together, not something done to you. You have the right to be heard, respected, and supported exactly as you are. I adapt evidence-based therapies, including EMDR, to fit you, not the other way around. You don't need to have everything figured out. Just bring yourself. And a charger. You may need a charger.

I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families and have worked extensively with trauma survivors. I am trained in EMDR and TF-CBT. I treat individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, addiction, and stress associated with life transitions.

I work with patients struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, life changes, anger, resentments - Individuals of ALL orientation - this is a NO judgement zone.
Guided by the wisdom of Jung's words, "There can be no transforming of darkness into light, without emotion," I specialize in unraveling the intricate threads of emotional intelligence. Grounded in a profound understanding of belief systems, my training delves into the core, where past ideologies shape your present reality. Embracing emotional intelligence is not just a skill; it's a transformative state-of-mind that shapes thoughts and heightens emotional awareness. I advocate not for change but for understanding and acceptance.

I have specialties in complex trauma, ADHD, and ASD.
I work with women and children because I am fiercely protective of these populations in my own life. There is a term in the therapy world called “wounded healer.” This term is from Carl Jung and research suggests that upwards of 70% of counselors and psychologist have had their own “wounding” experiences which led them to their career path. I work with these populations because my counselors and psychologists growing up helped me see through the fog of abusive parenting and romantic relationships. They helped me grow and heal, doing the only thing that they could- providing a safe space for me to cry, vent, be sorrowful, and share.

I work with individuals who are facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relational conflict, and the strain of simply trying to hold life together when things feel like they’re slipping.
I draw from evidence-based practices while keeping the work human. Therapy shouldn’t feel sterile or detached. It should feel like a place where truth can be spoken plainly, where patterns are uncovered, and where real change is built step by step. Growth is not always comfortable, but it is always worth the effort.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
