I utilize an integrated approach that includes aspects of narrative therapy, emotion focused therapy, CBT and MI to help people struggling with addiction, family and
relationship
issues, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, and other things to help people thrive.
People try to make sense of their world as they perceive it. This is why people struggle with depression, anxiety, emotional regulation and expression, addiction, etc. Overall, I believe people want to understand what makes them who they are. Through understanding their struggles and being able to choose different ways of thinking, acting, and feeling, people can learn to be the best version of themselves.

I am a compassionate and laid-back therapist dedicated to helping individuals,
couples
, & partnered systems experience wellbeing in ALL parts of their lives (even the ones we’re taught to be ashamed of or hide from).
If you’re a human being on this planet, odds are you’ve been through things that have left a lasting negative impact on your mental health. You've also likely experienced feelings of shame when it comes to your sexuality that you never asked for. While you may have been told that you’re broken, that your sexuality is something to be ashamed of, or you’re just "bad" at relationships; my goal is to help you re-write those narratives that hold you back from having the life you want. Whether you're experiencing mental health concerns, sexual related concerns, or you're just feeling "stuck" in life, we can work through it together.

If you are navigating a major life change, struggling with
relationship
issues, or coping with stress and anxiety, I am here to help.
Life events, like starting a new career, adjusting to parenthood, or surviving college/graduate school, can be overwhelming and stressful. These changes can challenge our sense of identity, disrupt our routines, and cause us to question our goals and values. You might find that you're procrastinating, investing less in your relationships, or getting caught up in the tedium of day to day life. In cases like this, it’s easy to feel stuck, lost, or helpless. You might think, "If I could just put into action what I know I want for myself, I'd get my life on track."

I have worked in the profession over 20 years with adults, adolescents, and children as individuals,
couples
, and families.
I understand how difficult it can be to reach out to a stranger to discuss your most intimate life details. Daily people face many different struggles that lead them to contacting a therapist. I work very hard to make you feel at ease in this process by building a therapeutic
relationship
and using humor when appropriate. I acknowledge the vulnerability and strength it requires to make the first step to reach out for help. I provide a judgement free and supportive environment.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
