Besides my experience in treating PTSD, Chronic PTSD and trauma with therapy and EMDR, I also am able to successfully treat anxiety and OCD with ERP-exposure and response prevention.
My primary passion is helping people heal from trauma as an EMDR therapist. I am so moved by the courage of my clients. I am amazed at our capacity for healing and am profoundly honored to assist in a process that is both so deeply painful and so joyful in recovery. I also work with clients on other issues like depression, anxiety, women's issues, life transitions, boundaries, communication and relationships. I have completed my Level III Board Certification in Telehealth because I want to be able to help people all across Ohio, not just those who can come to my office in person.

As a counselor, my goal is for you to understand how your past experiences are affecting your thoughts, feelings, and relationships. Choosing to seek treatment for your mental health takes courage but is necessary for you to become the most authentic version of you. You deserve a safe space in which you receive dignity, respect, and compassion as you begin your counseling journey. I am a nonjudgmental, relational counselor that will assist you in creating boundaries and finding your voice. If you feel stuck or overwhelmed, I would be honored to sit with you, hear your story, and help you restore hope in your life again.

I use evidence-based approaches—including CBT, ACT, DBT, ERP, and EMDR—but the focus isn't on fitting you into a specific model.
I work with older children, teens, and young adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, OCD, eating concerns, trauma, identity, and major life transitions—including the sometimes-frustrating reality of having a brain that doesn't follow the "standard instruction manual." Together, we explore patterns with curiosity rather than judgment so challenges begin to make sense instead of feeling like personal failures. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves while building practical skills that work in everyday life.

Kim Brant, LPCC, is a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, trained in CBT, ERP, ACT, MI, mindfulness, and solution-focused methods.
If worry is stealing your sleep, your moods swing fast, or Sundays bring a heavy pit in your stomach, I can help. Keeping up at work, showing up at home, and dealing with personal issues without proper support is too much for anyone. And juggling daily tasks, managing relationships, and trying to stay afloat, all while carrying the heavy weight of worry or sadness is completely overwhelming. I work mostly with adults stuck in loops of anxiety, low mood, grief, or that have relationship strain or big life changes that won’t settle down. I believe things can get better, and that I can help you, or I wouldn't be doing this work.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
