Dr. Robert Gore
Psychologist, PhD
Dublin, OH 43017
I've also trained in DBT with Marsha Linehan and ACT with Steven Hayes.
Private, In Person, Clinical Psychology Practice in Dublin (near Columbus, Ohio), and telehealth throughout Ohio. Psychotherapy and Executive Coaching. I bring extensive experience in active cognitive-behavioral therapy for individuals and couples, I provide evidence-based treatment for depression and anxiety. Care begins with a thorough diagnostic assessment. Accurate diagnosis is often overlooked in mental health care—I prioritize getting it right so treatment is focused, effective, and tailored to you. Executive coaching is more directive, active, and intense. Sessions can be outside the office and no diagnosis is made.

I help adults with ADHD who feel overwhelmed, disorganized, emotionally reactive, or stuck despite being intelligent and capable. ADHD impacts far more than attention. Many of my clients struggle with executive dysfunction, emotional regulation, procrastination, time management, relationship stress, and burnout. ADHD often co-occurs with anxiety and depression, especially in high-achieving adults who have spent years masking symptoms.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, & trauma-informed care.
Many adults start therapy when trauma, grief, chronic pain, or emotional stress begin affecting daily life in all ways. I work with folks 16+ and up who want practical support and a collaborative therapeutic approach. I am direct and strength-based. I'm empathetic and willing to push you when needed. Before becoming a therapist, I served as both a registered nurse and a military officer. Those experiences shaped how I understand resilience, stress, and the connection between physical health and emotional well-being. They also guide the way I approach therapy—with respect, directness, and a focus on the whole person.

I take an integrative and flexible approach to therapy, but do enjoy drawing from person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT) and, Internal Family Systems (IFS).
I am committed to walking alongside you as you navigate life’s challenges and move toward healing. I strive to create a space where you feel safe, welcomed, and truly heard, with the understanding that everyone’s experiences are unique. My interest in counseling grew from witnessing the impact of trauma, especially in children and adolescents, and how those experiences can shape everyday life. I use a trauma-informed approach and value exploring both past experiences and present challenges at a pace that feels right for you.

Using DBT or ACT approaches, I equip preteens through adults with the skills to lower the intensity of their emotions and then show curiosity and compassion.
Do you often find yourself reacting strongly to situations, only to later wonder why you got so upset? Do your emotions seem to escalate quickly from 0 to 10 without a clear reason? When you experience uncomfortable emotions, do you tend to distract yourself or shut down? Do you struggle with creating a support network or having boundaries with others? Are there unresolved trauma issues that you may not be acknowledging? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are one step closer because the first step toward change is awareness. Embracing this awareness can lead to positive transformations and a deeper understanding.

My favorite part of therapy is seeing people rediscover their joy! Do you find yourself saying about your partner that you 'love them' but don't 'enjoy them'? Have you looked at your children or teens and wondered if the 'fun part' of parenting is over? I work with couples and families on a daily basis to help them figure out how to find that connection again. I help them resolve their current struggles and empower then to create better futures.

Life gets overwhelming & therapy can help you breathe. If you’re navigating emotions that feel like rough seas, you’re not alone. I work with adults and young adults who want real change, not surface-level coping skills or “just think positive” advice. My clients come to therapy wanting clarity, boundaries that actually stick, and support in untangling things like substance use, people-pleasing or grief/loss. I have passion for working with AuDHD adults, especially those diagnosed later in life who have spent years masking, over-functioning, or wondering why everyday life feels harder than it seems to for everyone else.

I believe that my clients are the experts of themselves while just needing guidance from a trained mental health professional. Therefore, I trust that we need to bring our expertise together to collaborate on how we are going to help you move closer to your own goals and values. I provide a non-judgmental safe environment where I teach a lot of coping skills & provide a lot of education. I come with 14ish years of experience (5.5 of those working for an Eating Disorder Treatment facility). I am NOT your traditional talk therapist & NOT a weight loss therapist! I offer evidence-based treatments mixed with what my client want.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
