Extremes in our emotional and psychological states can lead to imbalance, avoidance and mindlessness, and can be related to extremes in other areas of our health, such as eating, activity, and sleep. Eating too much or not fueling our bodies enough, stress or emotional eating-these are ways we cope with or respond to extremes in our thoughts and emotions, and distracts and disonnects us from our life values and goals. I am here to help you reestablish your values and goals by focusing on a more balanced perspective and awareness of your mind, body and behaviors.

Our clinical perspective is
trauma
informed, meaning that adverse life experiences shape who we are today and the beliefs we carry around about ourselves, others, and the world.
We enjoy working with clients who are open to understanding how adverse life experiences negatively impact thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and are ready to do the work of exploring these connections in therapy. We strive to build a relationship with our clients based on the foundations of curiosity and empathy in a collaborative setting that is goal-oriented and relaxed, where their true self can be seen and feel accepted. Our overarching hope for clients is that through therapy they would believe they have inherent worth and value as human beings, apart from what they do, have, or what other people think and say about them.

I use an integrative approach heavily influenced by the Internal Family Systems model, and I’m trained in
trauma
-informed care and EMDR.
The stigma surrounding mental health care is finally starting to dissipate. It is my hope that preemptive counseling will eventually become as routine as annual trips to a primary care doctor. There’s much yet to be learned about the uncharted depths of the emotional world. The best place to start is in your own life. By doing your own work, you naturally pave the way for someone else to do theirs. Why not start today? If you’re stuck on your own path toward health, in a struggling relationship, or simply want to develop greater self-awareness, it’d be my honor to work with you.

Either way, the challenges that we face can influence our emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. I believe that it is important to come alongside clients on the journey to healing and self-awareness so that they can better navigate the challenges of life.

Change, although inevitable, can be difficult and feel ruthless especially when life takes a turn you don't expect. We can start feeling lost, alone and out of touch with ourselves and those around us. Each of us are vulnerable to the pain, grief and the uncertainty of the human condition. In this way, I believe we can each benefit from a safe and non-judgmental space that allows us to put our guard down and encourages us to learn, be flexible and rest more fully into the natural process of simply being ourselves and listening to our own wounds.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
