It's exhausting, but you don't really know how to relax and probably don't sleep welll.
I get it because I've been there. I've helped hundreds of anxious perfectionists feel like they can breathe again. I aim for the root of anxiety, perfectionism, & chronic guilt in ways that I've honed over 7 years of practice. I blend art therapy, parts work, & other therapy techniques to help you feel unburdened, deeply rested, and unapologetically joyful.

I work with adults challenged by the impact of trauma, PTSD, suicide loss, grief, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and stress.
Deciding to seek support through counseling takes courage, and the process of finding the right therapist can be intimidating. Building a trusting relationship with a therapist can take time, and I understand how difficult it can be to be vulnerable. My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and Humanistic, focused on building a therapeutic relationship rooted in trust, safety, empathy, and compassion. I utilize evidence-based methods such as CBT, CFT, mindfulness-based interventions, breath work, somatic psychotherapy, and EMDR.

Do you often feel misunderstood and isolated, navigating through constant states of fight, flight, freeze, and fawn? Perhaps you struggle with regulating emotions, find yourself overwhelmed, and resort to self-harming behaviors or other ways to numb intense emotional pain. Chronic suicidal ideation may also be part of your experience. Do you deeply care about others, sometimes to your own detriment, and yearn for the ability to set and maintain boundaries? Building healthy relationships might be a challenge, leaving you feeling like an outsider. Relentless shame and guilt may be weighing heavily on you.

I work with both Individuals and Couples as they seek greater fulfillment in their lives and relationships. Individual therapy with me will feel like you’re telling your story. By providing a safe, nonjudgmental, and collaborative space you’ll be able to approach the difficulties you have had and are currently facing. By engaging your story in this space, you’ll be able to understand yourself and the world around you in a new way that will lead to healing and growth. My approach with couples is similar in that I hope to help you engage each other in new ways, fostering fulfilling patterns of connection and attachment.

I help my clients learn to use their personal strengths to eliminate stress and establish new patterns of behavior to make their lives healthier and happier. We work together to address issues of low self-confidence, the fear of public speaking, a lack of supportive relationships or health-related problems. I enjoy seeing the positive changes my clients make as they achieve their goals that lead to a more satisfying life.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
