Hello and welcome! I specialize in working with women, college students, survivors of trauma, folks on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, and anyone facing stress around anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, boundary setting and relationship concerns. I specialize in working with ages 18-30. I value authenticity and transparency and believe the relationship in therapy is the key element to a powerful experience. Often, we are not getting our needs met out of fear or avoidance, and therapy is a great way to practice embodiment, taking space and being present as your authentic self.

Are you stuck, unable to move forward in your life? I believe that we as human beings are resilient, and that, when we find ourselves stuck unable to move forward in our lives, it's important to seek guidance outside our ourselves to unravel and break free from whatever is blocking our inner light. I work with children, teens and adult women age 4-40 struggling to cope with PTSD, anxiety, depression, phase of life adjustments and transitions, self esteem and self confidence issues, self sabotaging behaviors and emotion regulation difficulties.

*I am out on maternity leave. I will reply to voicemails and emails when I return. Thanks!* Everyone experiences times in their lives where they feel overwhelmed and stuck. Those difficult periods can be the result of internal factors (such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, negative body image, etc.), external factors (such as a loss, relationship problems, financial stress, a traumatic event, etc.) or a combination of both. My goal is to help clients get unstuck. I work with my clients to gain insight into the issues that are contributing to their struggles and address the factors that are in their control to change.

If you have adult ADHD, you likely know about struggles with distraction, managing your time, overwhelming emotions, and difficulty getting things done. You may even be trying to compensate with perfectionism, overworking, or avoiding stressful things completely. You’re tired of feeling like life is messy, and even more tired of the impact that feeling scattered has on your self-esteem. You long to feel more understood, to build confidence, and to follow through on your commitments. To get a solid grasp on life.

Reaching out for counseling can be scary or intimidating. It can also be challenging to find the right "fit" with a therapist. I hope to offer a place where clients can feel seen, heard, and appreciated. Seeking counseling can help you make sense of your past, present, and your future. If you are feeling down, anxious, lost, or just off and your current coping skills aren't working, starting therapy might be a good next step.

How would it feel to be able to take control over your depression & anxiety symptoms? To have healthier self esteem .
Do you feel worthless, not good enough and insecure? To everyone else you appear happy & have yourself together. If they only knew how much strength it is taking for you to put a smile on your face each day. You look in the mirror & think you don’t deserve happiness, because all you are used to is disappointment & pain. You experience a sharp tightness in your chest & it feels like a ton of bricks weighing you down. Your mind seems cloudy due to your thoughts racing, screaming at you that you’re not good enough. You blame yourself for your past & feel you deserved being hurt. You don't feel beautiful and fear steps in your way.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
