There is a curious habit that I've noticed, especially when working with teens, that clients will mostly only work on the "issue of the week." This can have numerous benefits and can also delay the client's progress on any underlying concerns or patterns. Ideally, once a client has agreed to their treatment goals, they continue to take attainable steps towards that goal in therapy and in their daily life. When a client feels comfortable with their therapist to share their thoughts, emotions, and vulnerabilities, then deeper work can happen.

I have been a licensed therapist for 15 years. I specialize in trauma and am trained in specific techniques including DBT and EMDR to help process your past and gain calming coping skills. I have found with the use of EMDR techniques that accessing your subconscious with guided visualization and relaxation techniques help to process past experiences and help your identify negative patterns that may not be serving you. I am deeply spiritual (not religious) and are open to discussions on metaphysical topics including chakras, energy healing and past life regression if clients are open and interested in this as part of their healing.

Virtual only! I live in TX. I authored two books that I use: I3 (cubed): Information, Interpretation, Intensity - Unlock the Inner Strength Behind Your Negative Emotions and I3 for Couples: Facing Our Negative Emotions to Build Intimacy in Marriage Both are available on my website. Clients who are struggling but wanting to not only heal, but also grow have the potential for being extremely powerful people. We have all gone through difficult times, experiencing anxiety, fear, depression, and hopelessness. If we have healed, we look back and see those times as hard, but some of the most powerful in our lives.

I offer a supportive and flexible space where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts and emotions. My goal is to empower you to take meaningful steps toward healing, at a pace that feels right for you. I believe that real progress happens when there's a strong, trusting relationship between therapist and client—something I prioritize in every session. Outside of my work as a therapist, I’m a mother of four and a lifelong lover of books. To manage stress in my own life, I turn to grounding techniques, Pilates, and spending time in nature—especially walking or hiking in the park.

My focus is on a variety of life issues that impede the unique potential of the individual. These include substance abuse and dependency, Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder, anxiety, depression, and trauma as well as major life events that happen to us all. I works with people from all walks of life including children, couples, and adults. My approach to counseling is person centered / existential and is concerned primarily with a person’s goals, aspirations, and realization of meaning. I view life “problems” not as impediments to attaining goals but as opportunities.

My first approach is to give time and room for me to learn about you. I do this by understanding you as a unique individual, learning about your values, life roles, beliefs, culture, passions and priorities. I then join you to approach your concerns through those worldviews as the foundation. I use an eclectic approach utilizing techniques and theories that fit your individual situation. I also enjoy working with clients who desire to incorporate a Christian worldview into their sessions.

I am now accepting new clients, as well as LPC's and LPCC's for supervision. I am passionate about helping others find unique and creative solutions to problems. I believe in the ability to utilize art and craft as a way of both coping with and processing these challenges and traumas, along side traditional talk therapy. I am supportive of lifestyles outside of the "normative" culture, and see the beauty in these differences. Understanding the way our personal core values interact with the values of the world around us gives us the opportunity to feel safe and secure in our decisions and actions.
