I incorporate mindfulness-based treatment that, when appropriate, can lead to hypnotherapy for healing, enlightenment, and self-regulation.
Are you feeling overwhelmed with anxiety, life changes, or transitions? Having the self-awareness and courage to take the first step of reaching out for help is challenging. I am here to offer a collaborative and non-judgmental space for you to start your journey of wellness and self-discovery. My approach to therapy is differentiated based on individual needs and personal goals; I often find that it evolves as the therapy process unfolds. Life is both an incredible adventure and so unbearably hard that we are not sure what way to turn next. Sometimes people, even people who love us , make it so much more difficult. Sometimes we seem to be making choices that make things worse when all we are doing is trying to feel better or be true to ourselves. There can be moments when we just need someone to listen, really listen. Listening and then helping others to figure out what is best for them is why I love being a counselor.

Is it finally time for you to prioritize yourself, even if it's just for an hour each week? You might have noticed how many friends, coworkers, or family members have found value in having a therapist. Maybe it's time for you to have that trusted, experienced advocate in your corner. Someone who can help you find clarity, balance, and healing in those areas of life that keep you feeling stuck. It might just be the step that helps you move forward.

Hi, I’m so glad you are here. I know searching for the right therapist can be overwhelming and getting started can be the hardest part. I am here to help! Being part of someone’s therapeutic journey is a privilege and helping people heal is my passion. I’m a 2008 MSW graduate of The Ohio State University with experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The time I’ve spent providing Individual/ Family Therapy, Hospice Care, Crisis and Trauma Treatment has taught me the power of a solid therapeutic relationship and ongoing collaboration. I place a strong emphasis on both, as well as understanding your individualized goals.

What sets me apart is my integrated approach, combining the power of hypnotherapy with my experience in chemical dependency counseling and peer support.
My ideal client is someone who is ready for a change, even if they're not sure exactly what that change looks like yet. They've likely tried other approaches to healing and are now seeking something that addresses the deeper, underlying causes of their issues. They might be struggling with a cycle of addiction, feeling trapped by anxiety.

Hypnotherapy is the practice of helping the conscious and subconscious minds to believe the same message.
Have you ever known what you needed to do, but didn't do it? You know what you want, and you might even know how to get it, but you just can't seem to make yourself start taking action? I help solve that problem.

I have been in the counseling profession for over 40years. I still look forward to meeting new people who desire to change and have the courage to share their personal life with me. I believe the times we live in offer so much to so many, yet so many struggles with finding satisfaction, meaning and a sense of belonging in the world. I view the counseling/coaching process as one of collaboration with the counselor/coach and client to identify the client’s strengths and issues to work on. I believe therapeutic coaching relationship is the primary tool in facilitating personal growth.

If you’ve spent years caring for, or pleasing everyone else, it can be hard to know what you need or how to make space for it. I work with adults struggling with perfectionism, people-pleasing, burnout, relationship patterns, and high-functioning anxiety. Common signs are self-harm, indecision, conflict avoidance and repressed emotions. Therapy with me offers a grounded, relational space to better understand yourself, set healthier boundaries, and feel less overwhelmed. You do not need the perfect words or a clear plan to begin. Wanting relief, more clarity, or a way back to yourself is enough.

Thriving in life is a great feeling. Just surviving can be a first step but it ultimately leads to exhaustion over time. Whether the issue is trauma, addiction or interpersonal conflicts, acquiring life skills is important to move towards happiness. Flexibility in thinking leads to creative problem-solving of issues. Boundaries can help with taking care of oneself and others. Negotiation is fundamental to maintaining good relationships. All of these can be learned and practiced to gain mastery in life and open up other options.

HypnoTherapy
How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works by using guided hypnosis to help you reach a state of focus and concentration through mental imagery and soothing verbal repetition. The state is somewhat like being absorbed in a book, a movie, or your own thoughts. You are not under a therapist’s “control,” but they can help you relax and turn your attention inward to discover the resources to achieve behavior change or better manage psychological concerns. Therapy sessions may involve guiding you through recognizing a problem, releasing problematic thoughts about it, and considering and accepting more productive alternatives before returning to normal awareness. Hypnotherapy is typically used by a therapist along with traditional forms of talk therapy. Eventually, your therapist can help you learn hypnotherapy techniques yourself so you can establish a stronger sense of control on your own in stressful or challenging moments.

Is hypnotherapy the same as hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy, which is sometimes called hypnotic suggestion, is a therapeutic technique in which a therapist uses hypnosis to help patients. It is not the kind of hypnosis portrayed in stage shows, or in movies or on television. You will not be unconscious or asleep during hypnotherapy, you will not lose control of yourself, your thoughts, or your free will, and you will be able to fully recall your experience. And while you will hear your therapist’s suggestions, it is always up to you to decide whether to act on them. Hypnosis by a trained mental-health professional is not a form of mind control, which is impossible to achieve anyway.

Can everyone be hypnotized?
The most common challenge of hypnotherapy is that as many as one in four people cannot be hypnotized. Brain imaging has confirmed differences in patterns of brain connectivity between those who respond to hypnotism and those who do not. Other people who could potentially be hypnotized may not respond to the technique because of their skepticism or resistance to entering a hypnotic state. If a therapist’s “post-hypnotic suggestion” is effective, it’s because they are suggesting something you want to achieve.

Does hypnotherapy work?
Through hypnotherapy, you can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. Like other talk therapy techniques, when hypnotherapy succeeds, it’s a case of mind over matter. Effective hypnotherapy involves self-healing because you access resources you need to change inside of yourself and learn how to tap into them whenever you need. Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an effective therapy for anxiety, phobias, stress, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual dysfunction, and undesirable behaviors like smoking. It can be used to help improve sleep or to address relationship challenges, and to aid with pain management, digestive disorders, skin conditions, and the gastrointestinal side effects of pregnancy or chemotherapy.
