I use art therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to encourage healthy emotional expression and to help change unhealthy thinking patterns.
When dealing with anxiety, depression, or trauma, you may be wondering if there is hope for you or if your life can change. Many counselors enter this field because we also know what it is like to struggle, myself included. My experiences and training have led me to believe that we as people have an incredible capacity for change and healing. If you are ready to make changes in your life or simply need a listening ear, you have come to the right place. Life is hard, but we don't have to do it alone.

I am trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (somatic trauma therapy) and Board Certified in Art Therapy.
I specialize in healing trauma. I believe that we all deserve relief from the trauma we didn't ask for. When the past continues to impact our current life, it obstructs us from relational satisfaction, with others and ourselves. I want to help you understand what happened, how it affected you, and how to move your life toward the direction you want it to go.

I use Jungian tools and art-making to guide self-awareness, increase intuition, embodiment, parts work, and shadow work.
My ideal clients are caretakers, helping professionals, and people pleasers—often middle-aged women with lingering childhood wounds. They’re thinkers and survivors but want more than just managing guilt, shame, depression, or perfectionism. They face physical symptoms like migraines, nausea, or autoimmune issues, even when doctors say “you’re fine.” But they get to a point where they want to go further than just cope with symptoms. They’re ready to do the shadow work, break through the wall, make big changes, heal deeply, and finally trust themselves. That is the gift of Jungian dream analysis.

Techniques we may use range from EMDR, parts work, somatic, polyvagal, breathwork, art, energy, and yoga.
Accepting new clients; evening appointments available. Talk therapy alone is not the fastest or deepest way to heal your trauma. Are you tired of talking about it, struggling for words to express your pain, or maybe you feel talk therapy has not been helpful for you? If you prefer to take action and DO something about a problem rather than just talk about it, and you are ready to go deep to heal deep- then you need a therapist who listens with compassion AND guides you in using actionable techniques/strategies to move forward in your healing journey. I would be honored to be this therapist for you.

I blend art therapy, parts work, & other therapy techniques to help you feel unburdened, deeply rested, and unapologetically joyful.
Anxious perfectionism shows up as perpetual shame, guilt, and self-punishment. No matter how hard you try, you're always falling short. It's exhausting, but you don't really know how to relax and probably don't sleep welll. Maybe you're a grown-up "gifted and talented" kid, or the child of immigrants, or the sibling who had to keep it together. Anxious perfectionism may also show up as body tension, severe procrastination and indecision, and difficulty with boundaries and people-pleasing. Perfectionists don't do things perfectly—they feel like they ALWAYS have to do better, and they can’t be happy until they get there.

I believe in the ability to utilize art and craft as a way of both coping with and processing these challenges and traumas, along side traditional talk therapy.
I strive to help each client understand themselves in a comforting, safe, and non-judgmental environment. I have a passion for ensuring that clients feel as though they are being seen and heard as a person, rather than a diagnosis on a page or set of symptoms. We are more than the words we use to define ourselves.

Art therapy is more like therapy than an art making session.
My clients are seeking relief from anxiety, depression, and relationship issues among other symptoms related to unexpected life events such as illness, grief, loss, infidelity, divorce, or trauma. Often times my clients feel overwhelmed, and while they know they want relief, finding their way forward has become difficult. I help my clients clarify goals, outline steps forward, and leverage their strengths to create the lasting change they seek.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
