You have hit a breaking point where your anxiety has taken over. It’s running your life and it feels like you’ve lost control… which is not your favorite feeling. You are desperate to not have to go through your day with this feeling of dread, this knot in your stomach that just won’t let you relax and enjoy those little moments in your life that you so desperately want to enjoy. You lie awake at night and think about all of the things you said/didn’t say, the things you did/didn’t do. Your family tries to be supportive but they don’t understand that you can’t just “stop worrying about it”.

I am currently accepting new clients with morning and afternoon availability! Sometimes life throws unexpected surprises and circumstances at us. Often it can be difficult to find someone who understands and can help you through it. What makes the therapeutic relationship unique is having a place to share and process feelings without judgement. As a counselor I strive to help my clients feel comfortable and provide the best care possible. I work with children, adolescents, and adults providing individual, couples, and family therapy.

Waitlist for new clients
I also believe in choosing an approach to counseling that is the best fit for each client, whether that is teaching a child new ways to cope with anger through a game or using talking therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills to help an adult overcome anxiety.
Therapy can be scary because it takes honesty & the courage to open up about hard things or what is happening with your child. It can also be incredibly helpful for you or your child. We all need help at times. This is not a weakness & does not mean anything is wrong with you, or your child. I work with individual clients (5 & up), providing empathy & a safe space without judgment. I also offer assessments for 4 year olds & may take them on, on a case by case basis. I believe in meeting the client where they are at. Some people need me to match their pace as they embrace change & others need me to push them to find motivation.

She uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP).
Do you have trouble waking up in the morning, the desperate hope the next cup of coffee will give you the energy to make it through the day, constant worries running through your head? Do you ruminate and worry about past events? Does this effect your day to day functioning? Do you want to feel energized and more productive? Do you want to look back at negative past events and not feel as effected by them?

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
