Are you exhausted, overwhelmed and disconnected from yourself and others? Many professionals in "helping roles" face unique challenges. I enjoy supporting individuals in health care settings, higher education and therapists looking for their own place to be both affirmed and challenged. I use a person centered approach that is warm, genuine and authentic. I also enjoy working with young adults as they navigate transitions and adjust to college or life after high school. I consider it a privilege to support people who are navigating faith changes and spiritual deconstruction. If any of these resonate, please reach out!

We live in a world where demands for our time, attention, energy, and effort have never been greater. Feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression often arise when we are unable to manage these demands effectively. As a licensed clinical psychologist I have been treating adults of all ages with stress, anxiety, and depression for 22 years with a combination of cognitive-behavioral, humanistic and Eastern techniques, including meditation and mindfulness training. I also use science-based information to address how factors like diet, exercise, sleep, cell phone/tech use and other lifestyle habits affect mental health and well-being.

My experiences as an intimate partner violence advocate and trauma/crisis intervention specialist have also cemented my passion for working with survivors of trauma from domestic and sexual violence, stalking and human trafficking. If you’ve ever felt like you’re too much—or not enough—I see you. You’ve spent years people-pleasing, contorting yourself to fit expectations, or silencing parts of who you are—and it’s exhausting.
Maybe you're burnt out from capitalism, rage-scrolling the news, or unlearning everything you were taught about success, relationships, and identity. You’re ready for something different. Clarity. Relief. A life that actually feels like yours. You don’t need to be “fixed.” You need space to unlearn, heal, and reclaim your power.

I specialize in working with individuals and couples who have ADHD, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, trauma, burnout, unwanted behaviors, and poor self-esteem and confidence. The therapeutic relationship is the most important part of therapy. My goal is for you to feel accepted as the beautifully flawed human that you are. First and foremost, I strive to understand you as a whole person, dial in on what you want out of therapy, and then help you get there.

We are evolving people living at the intersections of multiple identities. To discover our own power within our identities, we have an opportunity to learn more about who we are and how we relate. Whether it’s exploring your grief within a loss or learning new skills in improving your intimate relationships, I strive to provide equitable care, which includes considering how structural racism and racial identity impacts the wellness of individuals. I would love to learn more about your story. Let's work together!

If you are struggling with overthinking, anxiety, low mood, depression, or are generally lost on what “to do” next, then talk therapy might be a good first step. At JMM Therapy, myself, and one other LPCC therapist, help those with relationship concerns (both traditional and non-traditional relationships), as well as those struggling with abuse, grief, loss, shame and doubt. We help clients gain clarity on how their childhood trauma might be affecting them present day and we help people understand how to make values-based decisions. We also offer ACT-based meditation to help people become more present in their everyday lives.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
