Being a Mom is exciting and joyful– but it can also be exhausting, especially in today’s world. You’re being pulled in a million different directions and trying to meet what can feel like impossible demands. There are so many changes that happen through pregnancy, postpartum and beyond that you start to feel like you’ve lost yourself. You deserve support and a safe space to talk about what you’re struggling with, or that you may not love every minute of being a Mom. I’m here for you, even if you are not navigating Motherhood but are struggling and need support, I’d be honored to be able to walk with you through your journey.

Are you struggling with anxiety or depression? Dealing with relationship conflict that you just can't resolve, or wrestling with questions about the future of your relationship? Or are you simply overwhelmed by just how different your life is from the one you imagined before becoming a parent? Parenthood often brings old wounds to the surface, making it difficult to show up the way we want to for our children. I support parents in working through personal and parenting struggles using a positive, connected approach. Additionally, I have extensive experience supporting mental health professionals who are doing their own work.

The process of healing, i.e., learning from your past, changing your patterns, and thinking differently, requires intentional and compassionate guidance. I believe it is necessary to utilize both the left (logical) and right (expressive) hemispheres of our brain in order grow closer to our most authentic selves. I work with clients who experience Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Trauma, Attachment/Relationship issues, School/College/Job-related stressors, and other life stressors in need of processing and organizing in order to improve daily functioning.

I specialize primarily in working with those who are experiencing perinatal mental health concerns, trauma, anxiety, and adjustment to life phases.

You are struggling to see yourself as worthy in your own life. Negative self-talk takes up the majority of your thoughts. People have hurt you in the past or have convinced you that you're not good enough in some way so you now experience self-doubt when it comes to any decisions that you need to make. You isolate yourself because it is safer to be alone (even though you hate being alone) than it is to have the possibility of getting hurt again. Most of your decisions are based around how to keep other people happy instead of making yourself happy. However, you are ready for a change.

I work with the strong ones. The ones who have been strong too long. The ones who are feeling the emotional fatigue of trying to make everything happen for everyone else, but some how lost track of focusing on themselves and their own happiness/ mental wellness. I have the privilege to work with women, men and teenagers. Inside my office walls I provide a haven and place to talk to candidately about current and pass stressors and find new strategies to bring mental wellness. We discuss current behaviors, passed traumas and coping mechanisms that no longer are helpful and find new ways to live a more fulfilling life.

Life comes at us fast and many of us wear various hats. Sometimes thoughts and feelings get stuck and conflicted inside us. In the demands of the day to day, we move on, but loose some of our clarity, passion and momentum. I'm here to join you in slowing down, acknowledging the truth, validating and processing your life. I will hold a space for you to heal, move forward, grow and thrive. The opportunity to hear parts of your story and join you in this season of your life is an honor & joy. Whether you are in need of healing or growth I welcome the chance to connect.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
