To me, at the core of psychotherapy, is creating a working alliance with the client in a safe, perfection-free, and respectful environment. I help individuals better understand their internal emotional worlds, learn more about why they do the things they do, help them to decide for themselves what changes they would like to make in their lives, and give them guidance and support in how to do so.

Welcome! I’m glad you’re here and am interested in your story: the stories you live, the ones you hear, and the ones you tell about yourself and your world. When you find yourself stuck or feeling overwhelmed, lonely, sad, stressed, angry, confused, or burnt out, life becomes harder. I believe that you are more than the hardest moments in your life and hold your own strengths and wisdom that you can draw from in times of difficulty. I serve individual adults and adolescents, as well as families, to move beyond where you are and experience vulnerability, growth, and change, so that you can get your needs met and thrive in life.

As someone who is both non-binary and gay, I understand the unique pressures fellow LGBTQIA+ individuals endure in social, emotional, and occupational domains of functioning. With a lack of adequate social support, navigating sex, relationships, and intimacy as a queer individual can be much more challenging, especially while considering past traumas, internalized homophobia, and other impediments. Whether it is coming to terms with your newfound gender and/or sexual identity, coming out to your family, friends, or the workplace, or coping with dysphoria.

I am trained in EMDR and work successfully with patients who suffer from traumatic experiences. I have extensive experience in the treatment of substance abuse and addictions. I enjoy working with both men, women and teens. I believe clients have the answers to their problems and the job of a therapist is to assist them in discovering the answers.

My psychotherapy practice offers a safe, welcoming environment to actively work on your health and well-being. We will collaboratively establish our goals in therapy, and pace our sessions to match your needs. I offer both psychotherapy and psychoeducational assessment services. Psychotherapy sessions focus on growth-oriented issues even when addressing adjustment and mental health concerns. Assessment services are geared toward answering specific referral questions, usually to do with academic aptitude and school/college accommodations.

"Helping You Do Life Better." We all face difficult times in our journey of life when we find ourselves feeling lost, stuck, confused, and/or alone because of our struggles with emotional and mental health. Counseling can help you do life better in the following ways: (1) increase self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-love; (2) discover internal strengths; (3) recover and rediscover the person who you are meant to be; (4) find healing and restoration you long for. My clients that have found the most success in these areas are those who are willing to invest in themselves and do the work between sessions.

You are struggling to see yourself as worthy in your own life. Negative self-talk takes up the majority of your thoughts. People have hurt you in the past or have convinced you that you're not good enough in some way so you now experience self-doubt when it comes to any decisions that you need to make. You isolate yourself because it is safer to be alone (even though you hate being alone) than it is to have the possibility of getting hurt again. Most of your decisions are based around how to keep other people happy instead of making yourself happy. However, you are ready for a change.

How can I find a therapist in Cincinnati?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
