Do you experience unwelcomed thoughts that you try to ignore without much success? Do you feel imprisoned by intrusive images in your mind? Do you worry excessively about something bad happening to someone you love if you do not perform some kind of ritual? Do you avoid things like kitchen knives, public restrooms, children? Unwelcomed thoughts can manifest themselves in many forms beyond just excessive handwashing or checking stove knobs. Fortunately, there are evidence-based treatments available to effectively treat Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or OCD , a condition that affects as many as 7,000,000 people in the U.S. alone.

I work with individuals and couples with a focus on anxiety disorders/ OCD , post-addiction recovery, depression and relationship struggles.
Are you always trying to “figure out” problems in your head with no results, feel bad about yourself even though you have done nothing “wrong,” experience the same painful emotions regardless of your situation, or avoid discomfort that you know would likely lead to good things? My approach to therapy utilizes both "tried-and-true" and up-to-date techniques drawn from evidence-based therapies, addressing processes that are common to many diagnoses (e.g., anxiety/ OCD , depression, addiction, PTSD/trauma etc.), to help build within you awareness, self-compassion and a sense of agency.

When anxiety overtakes your life, it can feel impossible to regain control. That anxiety may be rooted in a traumatic event, a major life transition, or the luck of the genetic lottery. Individual therapy is a helpful way to explore what you're experiencing, learn new strategies for coping, and find healthy control in your life. Since 2008, I've worked in the mental health field with a broad range of individuals and symptoms. Now I want to distill my experience and training to focus on helping individuals with trauma-related symptoms, OCD , and anxiety. I offer a unique blend of EMDR, IFS-informed therapy, ERP, CBT, and mindfulness.

Is your child struggling with school? Children, adolescents and college-aged people often experience academic problems related to attention deficits, anxiety, obsessive /compulsive symptoms, depression and ongoing underachievement. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Structural Family Therapy help students and their families develop new patterns of relationship and change old, repetitive patterns that are not working. We can learn optimism (versus pessimism), persistence (versus procrastination) and engagement (versus avoidance). Neuropsychological evaluation helps to inform educational and treatment planning.

I value helping people live healed, whole, and empowered. There are so many reasons a person could reach out for counseling, and one of the main ones is to heal. I hope to be someone who can bring healing to your life- whatever the circumstance. I'd love to listen to, process with, and help alleviate the hurt that brings you to me.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), or behaviors that make them feel driven to do something (compulsions). It affects children, kids, teens and adults. Often the person carries out the behaviors to get rid of the obsessive thoughts, but this only provides temporary relief. Not performing the obsessive rituals can cause great anxiety. A person's level of OCD can be anywhere from mild to severe, but if severe and left untreated, it can destroy a person's capacity to function at work, at school or even to lead a comfortable existence in the home.
