I’m here to create a space where children, teens, and adult voices are heard to meet the needs of the individual, and of the family unit.
At times, life’s stressors and struggles with mental health can impact how strong one feels their voice can be. I believe individuals of all ages have a strong voice. I have found that by offering a therapeutic space where this voice is acknowledged, accepted, and cared for, the individual and family unit will find their own space for positive growth and change. While I specialize in work with children and adolescents, you will be welcomed, supported, and honored no matter your age or stage of life.

Family and parent sessions are available as seen fit.
Life is full of experiences that shape us in a variety of ways. It is easy to feel overwhelmed and consumed by the challenges and constant changes thrown our way. My passion is for helping children and families learn to appreciate their inner strengths and grow in confidence to face adversity head on. I believe that learning to express, manage and process emotions appropriately is a vital life skill, one that requires teaching. If you find your child has difficulty expressing or managing "big emotions", is often anxious or depressed, struggles with social skills or simply needs an unbiased ear to listen to, allow me to help.

The Enneagram is a tool that can be used to mobilize individual growth that can positively impact relationships with self, family and co-workers.
Working with Individuals, Couples and Families around a variety of issues is a gift and an honor. Seeking professional help takes courage and strength and is a choice that I deeply respect. While some clients are struggling with long-term issues that are affecting their daily lives, others are seeking a confidential space to talk through a specific relationship issue or difficult life stage. Regardless of the issue, my goal is to work cooperatively with clients to help facilitate their personal, emotional, physical and spiritual growth. My goal is for clients to leave my office feeling respected, heard, understood, & empowered.

After experiencing the impact it had on my personal and family life, I wanted to make it a focus of the help I provide.
It's a tough spot to be in when you don't know how to fix your problems. The more lost you feel, the more overwhelmed you get. You probably think something is wrong with you. Your relationships and work are suffering. The thing about it all is that you're not alone. Men tend to be at a loss when it comes to dealing with their emotions and not knowing what to do with problems that never seem to get better. There's actually nothing wrong with you. You just need a few things to learn about who you are.

I’ve trained in several modalities including CBT, insight-oriented psychotherapy, as well structural family therapy .
My approach is simple. If you want to feel better and find enjoyment and meaning in your life, then join me and we’ll make those things happen. My belief is that pain is where growth and change begin whether within an individual, couples, or a family and that pain can be transformative to make the changes you desire. I love what I do and I like to keep it simple.

Family Consultation.
Life's challenges bring us to our knees. At stressful times, a Licensed Professional Counselor, "LPC", helps. Confused, searching for answers, unsure of where to turn? Email cincypsychcenter@gmail.com. My work with courts, hospitals & schools helps. I have "been there" -- I "get it". In 1990 as a full-time Univ. of Cincinnati employee, I earned my Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling (diagnosis & treatment of mental & emotional disorders) before earning my Doctorate (Univ. of Dayton) in my 20's as a full-time UD employee. As Practice Owner & Miami Univ (OH) DBT Clinician, research and evidence shows us that DBT works.

As a Collaborative Divorce Coach and Family Mediator, I have dedicated my work to assisting parents in the process of peacefully transitioning their families through their divorce with greater dignity and respect and less misunderstandings.
For over 25 years, my work has focused on individuals, couples and families. I focus primarily on the marital and parenting relationship. All relationships are fertile ground for personal growth and improved understanding of self. Relationships are places where emotional triggers are experienced which can cause feelings of stress and vulnerability. I help my clients understand how relationships are places where greater self awareness can be developed with an increased understanding into who you are and what is important. Finding greater peace lies in the ability to solve personal conflicts, honestly express feelings and develop greater understanding of others.

Family Success Consortium is a multi-specialty group practice.
Is your child struggling with school? Children, adolescents and college-aged people often experience academic problems related to attention deficits, anxiety, obsessive/compulsive symptoms, depression and ongoing underachievement. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Structural Family Therapy help students and their families develop new patterns of relationship and change old, repetitive patterns that are not working. We can learn optimism (versus pessimism), persistence (versus procrastination) and engagement (versus avoidance). Neuropsychological evaluation helps to inform educational and treatment planning.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
