Growth is part of a healthy and fulfilling life. I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth, change, and genuine connections. We all have the ability to develop meaningful connections with the important people in our lives, as well as ourselves. But sometimes, fear and anxiety can get in the way of us living our lives to their fullest and making the deepest connections with the important people in our lives.

We all want to be happy. However, past trauma, relationship problems and emotional ups and downs can get in the way. Are you experiencing anxiety , depression, anger outbursts or other unwanted emotions? Have you tried therapy in the past that “didn't work”? Do you feel that no one really understands you? Are you frustrated, helpless or stuck? I want to know your heart’s desire and inspire and support you on your journey. I share a gentle mind-body approach to trauma, emotionally focused therapy for couples wanting to deepen or heal their relationships and DBT to explore ineffective thoughts, behaviors and emotions.

As a family therapist, and a parent myself, I have the utmost empathy for what parents, caregivers, and partners are facing when it comes to their own mental health let alone caring for the mental health of another. Depression, anxiety , eating disorders, endured trauma, mood disorders, and any culmination thereof can and will isolate us from those we love, and from ourselves. That loneliness perpetuates a narrative that we’re in this alone; when in fact you are not alone in your experiences.

A belief I carry into my work is "We are not robots! We are imperfect, complicated human beings." For you, this may look like fears of failure, struggling to get through daily tasks, lacking joy, feeling hopeless, or comparing yourself to others. Maybe you have tried SO HARD to create the life you want, but feel stuck or at your wits' end. Maybe you find yourself expecting too much, or not even knowing what you want! There is no simple switch to flip (because you aren't made of metal), but I am here to help you catch a break with your ADHD, anxiety , depression (or life) and create clarity, calm, and acceptance.

I work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, racial/ethnic cultures and situations to address a range of needs, including anxiety and depression, LGBTQ+ questions and concerns, sexual and relational challenges, and career and life planning.
Hello and welcome! It takes a lot of courage to consider getting support for a better life. I hope to be able to help. One of my goals in counseling is to facilitate growth and development through compassionate understanding and research-based solutions. I believe that authentic and productive change begins by establishing trust in the counseling relationship. This is the foundation on which I work with clients, as we talk about issues in their past, develop skills for overcoming present challenges, and create a new, more hopeful future together.

I am excited to accept clients of all ages with competency in areas including anxiety , depression, LGBTQ+ issues, and trauma.
Hello and welcome, I’m glad you’re here. As individuals, we weave our own beautiful and unique tapestries of life. However, every once in a great while, we hit a snag and become unsure of the texture, color, and direction of which to continue to weave. As a therapist, I believe that each one of us has the capability and capacity to continue weaving, you might just need help with a few knots along the way. That’s where I come in.

Do you feel stuck? The reality is that life is hard, and we all struggle at times. Usually, we are able to manage on our own. But there are other times when life becomes overwhelming, and we find it hard to move forward. This can lead to depression, anxiety , and unhealthy coping habits. It can also have a negative impact on our relationships with others... often those who we care about the most.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
