Do you have specific mental health concerns that you would like to address and process from a current or previous diagnosis? I believe everyone would benefit from having an impartial person that can listen, create and work on achieving life goals, and guidance as to getting personal needs met. I am currently seeing adults and toddlers.

I serve children (age 9+) and adults with difficulties including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, self-esteem, anger, and life transitions.
Currently Accepting New Clients. As someone who has been in the client chair before, I understand how difficult it can be to decide whether counseling is the right first step for you or how intimidating it is to discuss life’s hardships with another person. However, I can also attest to the benefits that counseling can produce in one’s life if given the proper time, effort, and care. Mental health is an integral component of overall health and well-being, and my goal as a counselor is to ease people through tough transition periods and to assist in cultivating meaningful lives.

I see adults in individual settings.
I believe that counseling doesn't come with a manual or a "cookie-cutter" approach. You are a person with feelings and thoughts unique to your own concerns and issues. I don't approach our counseling relationship based on your diagnosis or societal labels. I try to assist according to how you see your world and recognize that we all make different choices. We don't have to be held captive to a mental illness and I will help you try to find the "keys to those locks".

I have always focused on children/adolescents, adults , and families.
Some self-disclosure only benefits the therapeutic relationship. It’s hard to tell someone everything about yourself when you know nothing about them. I’m honest about my past because I truly believe it has shaped who I am today as a person, mother, wife, therapist, and friend. I lost my mom at a young age to cancer, and I’m the youngest of three. I have always wanted to help people, which led to my bachelor’s degree in psychology. After a year of service with AmeriCorps, I obtained my MSW. I have worked at various levels of care in the tristate area focused on adolescents, different mental health diagnoses, and eating disorders.

I currently work with children, teens, adults , and families.
Welcome! I want to start by saying thank you for taking a moment to visit and read about me and what I do. It is not easy when choosing a therapist to talk to about life’s struggles. It can be scary and overwhelming, but I believe that it is an empowering and brave start. My name is Erin and as a therapist I offer safe space for self-discovery, healing, and personal growth. I implement a strength-based and mindfulness approach with a strong belief that change and personal growth are possible, and that individuals are able to find their inner strength and work through life stressors and barriers to happiness.

Much of my clinical work has centered on treating at risk children & teens as well as adults who present with a variety of mental health needs (PTSD, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Complex Grief & Loss, etc.
I’ve often likened “good therapy” to a “good massage”. You enter feeling tense and uncertain with the hope that you'll leave feeling more centered and able to take on what’s next. At times, you may need a gentle and compassionate approach; other times, you may need deeper work to really start the healing process. My primary goal in our work together is to utilize my 21 years of direct clinical experience and 10 years of experience as a clinical supervisor to improve your overall life satisfaction.

My areas of focus include treating adolescents & adults with anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. I am very passionate about helping my patients overcome guilt, shame and self-esteem issues. I incorporate a lot of DBT skills into sessions, helping patients build distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal communication skills - along with how to apply these skills to their life. I help couples work on communication, validation and empathy as a starting point to resolve their conflict. I'm a believer in the value of developing a structure, schedule and routine to help build a life worth living.

I enjoy working with adults who are ready to make a change in their life, whether in relationships, life transitions, or financial patterns.
After realizing you’ve been stuck in a relationship or patterns that just aren’t good for you anymore, you want to redesign your life. Still, you have mixed emotions. After all, there were plenty of good times mixed in with the tough times. Even though you’re ready to shed the toxic stuff, it’s still hard. And scary. And even sad. But you’re tired of feeling numb. Tired of pushing all those feelings down just so you can make it through another day. You’re ready to take control of your own life and make choices that reflect who you are and who you want to be. You just don’t know how to get started.

How can I find a therapist in Cincinnati?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
