I currently offer sessions over zoom, and in-person.
Hi, I'm Connie. If you're here for relief from anxiety, depression, or "feeling stuck", you've come to the right place. The malaise of bad feelings and "bad luck" can come from old traumas that haunt us. Together we can gently unwind and heal some of the older traumas and begin building a new life. I am a trauma therapist and somatic guide - meaning our style of working is more active and dynamic than traditional talk therapy (although sometimes we do that too). Embodied therapies offer positive results that hold up longer over time so you can begin living the richer, fuller life that is waiting for you.

I am licensed in both Ohio and Indiana and I am able to meet with you in person or virtually.
My specialty is trauma. I love to journey with people to help them learn how to live free and full lives. Life is filled with many anxieties, trials, traumas, and obstacles which can create patterns that hinder us from thriving. When we experience trauma, our brain and body create adaptive or maladaptive patterns to cope with trauma. My goal is to partner with my clients to identify the problems, create effective goals, and increase healthy cognitive, emotional, and behavioral skills in order to decrease symptoms and develop healthy coping tools. I provide Christian counseling to those seeking support from a faith based perspective.

I was a professional airplane and helicopter pilot (civilian) before transitioning to a career as a therapist. I flew and worked with many veterans and learned about their struggles after deployment and separating from the military. Some of these challenges were reuniting with family, feelings of isolation, loss of purpose and meaning and moral injury. I also learned about veterans’ resilience as they faced these challenges. Working as a team, I can help navigate your transition to civilian life by improving your ability to cope with difficult emotions and thoughts using various types of therapy tailored for you and your goals.

I am a Christian Counselor seeing clients for marital, emotional, and family issues. I like to work with serious and deep issues in a safe and laid-back atmosphere. I've been doing this for eight years and enjoy it immensely. I use primarily Cognitive-Behavioral and Biblical approaches to get to the root of your issues so they can be dealt with convincingly. It is hard to believe, but the things you have carried around for YEARS can be minimized and often resolved. Some work is required, but results are a lot more possible than they presently feel.

I was introduced to counseling because of my own experiences and questions which developed into an intrinsic purpose to maintain my sobriety. I have a personal history that lends to helping others leave the life of active addiction and gain the tools to be sober and fulfilled. Active addiction or recovery presents difficulties which have a solution, I’m here to help in the solution.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
