I enjoy working with people during any phase of their journey. It's rewarding to connect with couples, adolescents, and adults going through stage of life changes and or trauma. I find joy in collaborating to cultivate peoples' motivations to change in a way that allows them to gain insight into their behaviors and achieve optimal health. I view people through a holistic lens thus seeing the whole person rather than their symptoms.

Ideal clients are those that are the ages of 13 - 77; I want these ranges because I feel I can best help them with their issues and needs which for me so far it has been about changing some aspect of themselves that they are having issues with dealing. From the limited exposure the goals are dependent on the client and what they want at the time, I have also learned that being flexible and fluid is the best way to help clients.

I understand that as human beings, we can lose sight of what is needed to feel good about ourselves. I believe that self-love, compassion, and forgiveness is imperative to a healthy lifestyle. You will find that I am committed to being present and drawing from you what you already know. I do not believe in individuals spending their lives in therapy, but I believe in the importance of discovering those things that will provide a better quality of life. We will discover what provides you freedom . We will explore what will improve your relationship with self and others.

People strive to create meaningful relationships. Many enter psychotherapy because that need isn't being met, wasn't met, or because they fear it won't be met. People feel/behave for reasons often outside awareness. Attempts to master psychological pain determine why people behave consistently, predictably, and sometimes self-destructively. The therapeutic relationship is determined by my ability to provide a safe forum for examining thoughts, feelings, and behaviors by maintaining a nonjudgmental, empathic rapport. Successful treatment integrates cognitive and emotional components of people developing increasing self-awareness. It includes supportive and interpretive interventions, while also leveraging strengths.

I find that many people just want to feel better, be happier, feel less anxious. They want to change their lives or at least become aware of their desire to improve the situation. I like the challenge of assisting people with self-limiting beliefs that can create anything less than a fulfilled and happy life. I enjoy helping people with their relationships, marital or otherwise and relish working with couples, helping them redefine their differences, improve communication and rejuvenate their intimacy, sexuaI and emotional.

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
