Ideal clients are those that are the ages of 13 - 77; I want these ranges because I feel I can best help them with their issues and needs which for me so far it has been about changing some aspect of themselves that they are having issues with dealing. From the limited exposure the goals are dependent on the client and what they want at the time, I have also learned that being flexible and fluid is the best way to help clients.

Besides my experience in treating PTSD, Chronic PTSD and trauma with therapy and EMDR, I also am able to successfully treat anxiety and OCD with ERP-exposure and response prevention.
My primary passion is helping people heal from trauma as an EMDR therapist. I am so moved by the courage of my clients. I am amazed at our capacity for healing and am profoundly honored to assist in a process that is both so deeply painful and so joyful in recovery. I also work with clients on other issues like depression, anxiety, women's issues, life transitions, boundaries, communication and relationships. I have completed my Level III Board Certification in Telehealth because I want to be able to help people all across Ohio, not just those who can come to my office in person.

I work best with four groups: 1. Young adults navigating faith, career, dating, life goals and trying to make wise choices about the future. 2. Men who want to be strong husbands, fathers, leaders and protectors, but struggle with anxiety, depression, habits like porn or overdrinking, faith doubts, or fear about where culture is headed. 3. Married individuals who feel stuck in unhealthy patterns and want to be a better spouse. 4. Anyone searching for a counselor who respects their Christian faith or libertarian/conservative worldview. If you’ve struggled to find a therapist who “gets” you, you may have just found a fit.

Our brains really are wired for connection. It’s a beautiful thing, and it can also make disconnection feel so painful, confusing, and hard. Whether you feel disconnected from yourself or a partner because of trauma, betrayal, anxiety, or other struggles, I start my work with clients from the same foundation – the idea that all behavior makes sense in context. Simply put, you are doing the best you can with what you know, even if it’s not the way you want to show up. Starting from that perspective can help unravel the shame associated with patterns you find yourself stuck in with your partner or with yourself.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
