Our approach to therapy is one in which our clients are viewed as resilient and resourceful. Our office is a place where change happens. I am now offering Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy to our practice. Horses are extremely intuitive animals and are able to help facilitate change on an emotional relational level that enhances the healing process.I have had a long interest in horses and find a healing effect to be activated when in their presence. This realization was probably the most important driving force that propelled me into this horse/person connection as a modality for treatment.

My clinical work is best described as having three separate but integrated approaches. First, I have a cognitive behavioral problem-solving approach. Since we bring our recent and past history into the present, my second approach is to understand how a person’s distant past and more recent past influences their current concerns. Third, my approach is to understand how a person’s social support impacts their present concerns and also the reverse—how the person’s behavior and attitudes impact their own social support network. My manner is calm, deliberate, quiet, and open—but also active

I actively engage with clients who's ultimate question with their mental health is "where do I even begin?" I firmly believe that while we have grown immensely in our society in terms of understanding and championing mental health care, all of this progress doesn't take away the vulnerability that so often comes with being a beginner. In my therapy space, I strive to make those feeling small, dejected, or lost within themselves empowered to be curious about the path they have ahead.

I've been helping people resolve personal trauma, depression, anxiety and the struggles they find in their relationships for over thirty years. Relationships are complicated and are often difficult to navigate and the same is true of figuring out who we are and what choices we should make. Often these include parenting problems, loneliness, as well as medical conditions and aging/end of life issues. But it is possible to move out of pain, depression and confusion into greater happiness and meaning in one's life. The process of therapy for me is one of trust and non-judgement.

I work with teens and adults and individuals from marginalized backgrounds who are navigating anxiety, trauma, identity stress, and the emotional weight of societal expectations. Many feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or stuck trying to survive in spaces that don’t always allow them to be fully human. Clients often want to reconnect with themselves, build confidence and self-worth, and unpack messages that have shaped how they see who they are and what they deserve.
