I chose a career in counseling because I have always had a passion for helping others. I believe patients deserve a safe place to share and work on struggles in all aspects of their lives. During an initial evaluation, my goal is to develop an understanding of what each individual patient is seeking and provide a thorough consultation of how to direct treatment. I completed a Master of Arts in counseling at Ursuline College.

Annie Simkin specializes in the treatment of behavioral and mental health issues of children, teens, families and women. She has a special interest in trauma, grief and loss, adjustment issues and individuals who are struggling with infertility . Her experience includes service at several residential, day treatment and outpatient settings, where she has worked with children, adolescents, college students and adults. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology with a concentration in women's and gender studies from Kenyon College and earned her master's degree in social work from the University of Michigan.

Dr Giesel is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Chemical Dependency Counselor Clinical Supervisor. Dr Giesel is dual boarded in the treatment of pediatric and adult clients. She is certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing as well as a Certified Trauma Treatment Professional. Dr Giesel is trained in EMDR and Biofeedback and Palliative/ End of Life care. Additional clinical areas of concentration and training include: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Burnout in Frontline Workers, anxiety, depression, chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, chronic illness and pain as well as adjustment related concerns.

Laura Palisin received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Dayton and her master's degree in community counseling from Kent State University. She has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in outpatient, inpatient and school settings. She has advanced training in trauma focused therapy including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT).

I am a licensed independent social worker with a PhD in psychology (academic degree). My humanistic approach engages clients in active collaboration on the content/direction of therapy. I strive to make the therapeutic space & time warm, welcoming, & safe, to provide clients the ability to focus on problems. I have extensive experience working within healthcare & hospice environments, & have a strong understanding of medical issues. I utilize strengths-based approaches in counseling individuals, couples, & families. Techniques are based on therapies including; EMDR, mindfulness, acceptance, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, narrative, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic, & client-centered therapy. My dissertation focused on existential suffering at end of life.

I have one of the few jobs where my goal is to get fired. My ideal outcome is to help you to help yourself so that you don't need me anymore. Do you feel "stuck" in a relationship? I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Ohio. I enjoy working with adult individuals and teens. Some of my specialties include anxiety, trauma, depression, and life adjustments/transitions (grief, divorce, moving, job changes, new school, and medical illness), though I am trained to work with a variety of mental health related issues. I want you to feel heard and that your thoughts, feelings, and experiences matter. Together we can work to find balance, and you can accomplish your goals and heal.

It takes courage to reach out for support and begin a healing journey. I believe that the therapeutic relationship can be a source of that healing. I put a lot of emphasis on creating an atmosphere of respect, caring and safety. We will collaborate to understand and help the parts in you that stand in your way to feeling satisfied and happy. My particular areas of experience and interest are: coping with the aftermath of traumatic and painful experiences, life transitions, women's issues, relationships, complicated grief, anxiety, stage fright and creative blocks, depression, medical diagnoses and pain issues, multiculturalism.

The therapeutic relationship creates a unique space for patient and therapist to explore and uncover new possibilities for growth and change in areas that are of importance to the patient. I work collaboratively with patients to dislodge and free up deeply-embedded patterns of behavior and ways of relating to others that can keep us stuck and prevent us from moving forward, from achieving important goals, and from developing satisfying relationships that are nurturing and sustaining. Relationships are central to my work with patients, whether working individually, in couples therapy, or in a group.

You want a therapist who is passionate & loves people, who has multiple, not singular experiences, who believes in therapy enough to go themselves. I go as preventive medicine. Originally from NYC, have always had friends, associates, relationships with persons from every culture.  This has been extremely valuable in developing my clinical skills and ability to understand and help a wide variety of people from various backgrounds.  The next invaluable contribution to my clinical skills is my Mother, Elizabeth, who taught me, "Everyone I know knows something I don't."  This makes every single person of unique intrinsic value.
