Utilizing somatic based therapies such as EMDR, Brainspotting , and mindfulness, I can help you recover from wounds that continue to be detrimental in your life.
So many of us have had to disconnect from ourselves to survive in some way, often due to difficult life experiences that overwhelmed our capacity to cope. You may be noticing that the way you relate to yourself is negatively impacting how you show up in your life and relationships. Perhaps you find yourself engaging in patterns that are harming you despite efforts to stop—leaving you feeling stuck, broken, or out of control. I'm here to help you find new ways of relating to yourself and equip you with tools for coping more effectively. Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, we will work together to help you heal.

In our work together we will use Somatic Experiencing, EMDR and Brainspotting , as well as pieces from psychodrama and other expressive arts, using a poly vagal lens, to support growth, flexibility and healing.
People come to therapy because they want to feel better, plain and simple. But what does that mean? What happens when “talk-therapy” and words are not enough? Sometimes we can understand the source of our problems, but not actually feel any better. The basis of somatic therapy is that it incorporates and unites your body and mind. So instead of saying ‘what happened?’ or 'how does that make you feel?’ I might ask "when you feel joy, what do you notice in your body?” Bringing therapy out of your head and into the body allows for a whole different level of change and healing. My work is based on my training in somatic modalities.

I believe that the most powerful part of the therapeutic relationship is in the human connection. It is in this connection that the creative and dynamic process of change begins. I value each client's individual narrative and offer a peaceful environment to address aspects of life that may prevent you from recognizing your capacity for healing. Whether you are negotiating life losses, feelings of anxiety and depression or adjustment to life challenges, I see my role as compassionate listener and guide. I will quietly challenge you to move beyond negative patterns of thought. My approach while directive is holistic, and supportive.

God has given us a purpose, a vision, and a mission! As someone who has experienced adversities, I have used my own experiences to empower, and strengthen others. I will admit I do not know everything. I say this because you know your story better than I. If you allow me access to know your story, we can grow together. I acknowledge that trust is an important part in any relationship to develop so do not trust me until I have earned it. My hope is that through partnership, engagement, patience, love, understanding, respect, kindness, and teamwork we can work towards healing and self-empowerment.

There's something magical about Black women connecting to heal. I help anxious and exhausted Black women create lives of peace, rest, and meaning. My clients are Black women who feel overwhelmed and tired of chasing perfection. Despite being perfect on paper, she’s feels scattered and unfulfilled. She is so focused on getting the next promotion, being in the right relationship, and not making mistakes that she feels like she’s losing herself. She is well-acquainted with self-sacrifice — she sacrifices sleep and her relationship with herself!

I use a variety of modalities including Brainspotting , EMDR, EFT (tapping) TFCBT.
“Trauma is perhaps the most avoided, ignored, belittled, denied, misunderstood, and untreated cause of human suffering." - Peter Levine. Trauma is often thought of as a single incident, life-threatening event when in reality, most of us have encountered some level of it throughout our own lives. Without a safe and validating space to heal, we are left feeling stuck, overwhelmed, worthless and ashamed. Trauma comes in many forms, including racial injustice, spiritual abuse, prolonged exposure to violence and unresolved childhood issues. I find beauty and freedom in post-traumatic growth as I join my clients on their path to recovery.

During the therapeutic process, I work from modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Brainspotting , and my experience as a mindfulness teacher to support you in making progress toward your goals.
What I find to be the most rewarding in my work as a therapist is the ability to help others gain the confidence to break through mental barriers and overcome life challenges. By becoming more aware and awakened to the "chattering" of the mind that we so often mistake for reality, you are able to open yourself up to a whole new world of possibilities. This allows for a better understanding of how beliefs and attitudes about ourselves, others, and the world are formed, and to see that real change is possible. With a mindful and holistic approach, new choices emerge and opportunity beckons.

I help high-functioning women who become consumed with anxiety as soon as they get into a romantic relationship get off the anxiety roller coaster and find romantic sanity. My clients struggle as you do. Despite being successful-enough at school and work, having friends, hobbies, life goals, and maybe even a serious spiritual practice, romantic relationships are hard as hell. It’s like there's a switch inside their brain that makes them go from happy and in love to questioning everything about the relationship, with a deep sense that something is wrong that they can’t quite put their finger on.

What type of Beachwood mental health professional is right for me?
While most types of therapy have a lot in common, they also fall into clusters that share core features, such as cognitive therapies or psychodynamic approaches. It is important to seek someone who practices evidence-based therapy, meaning one or more forms of treatment that have been scientifically evaluated and tested, and demonstrate consistent improvement for a majority of patients.

If you are unsure about choosing the right therapist, it might be useful to first learn more about therapy types and modalities.
How to find a therapist in Beachwood?
When looking to find a therapist, it is certainly important to consider training and credentials. Studies also indicate that the therapeutic alliance, or the relationship the client develops with the therapist, is an important factor in their ability to work together to achieve the client’s goals.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Finding a psychologist or therapist who is a good fit for you is the most important step to discovering what type of therapy, or combination of therapeutic approaches, will meet your individual needs. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

How to use my insurance?
