I especially enjoy working with families with school age children who are experiencing challenges related to adoption or other trauma-related issues such as divorce or abuse. I like to combine parent guidance and support with play therapy for their child. My approach is active and engaged. I also enjoy working with children and adolescents who are socially awkward and struggling to be part of a peer group. I am also happy to see adolescents and adults who are going through transitions in their lives that may be causing them worry or anxiety.

I work with children, adolescents and adults. With children and adolescents, I do individual treatment and family consultation. The issues I work with include developmental concerns and adjustment problems, e.g., socialization, loss, divorce. I reinforce my work with children by strengthening parenting skills. I collaborate with schools as needed. My work with adults and the elderly includes life cycle issues, stress, depression and anxiety.

I am a licensed independent social worker with a PhD in psychology (academic degree). My humanistic approach engages clients in active collaboration on the content/direction of therapy. I strive to make the therapeutic space & time warm, welcoming, & safe, to provide clients the ability to focus on problems. I have extensive experience working within healthcare & hospice environments, & have a strong understanding of medical issues. I utilize strengths-based approaches in counseling individuals, couples, & families. Techniques are based on therapies including; EMDR, mindfulness, acceptance, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, narrative, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic, & client-centered therapy. My dissertation focused on existential suffering at end of life.

She enjoys working with single parents, children of substance abuse, teenagers, young adults, care givers, women’s issues, persons of color, survivors of trauma, and childhood abuse.

Most of my patients come to me feeling a significant level of distress. Some may have seen a mental health professional before and have some idea of what to expect. However, for many this may be the first time they have ever met with a mental health professional and they may feel apprehensive about the process. My goal in that initial session is to strike a balance between putting the person at ease while gathering important information about who they are and what their situation is. Most patients return to their second session feeling encouraged and a degree of hope based on that initial encounter.

Originally from NYC, have always had friends, associates, relationships with persons from every culture.  This has been extremely valuable in developing my clinical skills and ability to understand and help a wide variety of people from various backgrounds.  The next invaluable contribution to my clinical skills is my Mother, Elizabeth, who taught me, "Everyone I know knows something I don't."  This makes every single person of unique intrinsic value.

I believe that people are curious and usually strive to make sense of their internal selves and the world around them. In this process we are often guided, influenced, and diverted by various factors. These factors are endless and include, but are not limited to; experiences, parents, society, friends, work, and morals. While these variables can help us to grow, they may also hinder progress, leading to stagnation and dysfunction. I assist others to gain awareness of these factors either within or outside the self.
