Welcome to the "Center for Revolutionary Relationships". Inviting clients to hear their own voices and identifying their own strengths, talents, resources and resiliencies is the foundation of my collaborative therapeutic process. We do not exist in isolation. We live in various systems. We are made to influence and be influenced by everyone around us. Therefore, in order to have a healthy "we", one must have a healthy "me". Taking all these influences through a "systemic" lens with children, individuals, couples and families allow for these multiple realities to be integrated harmoniously. Thus creating balance, wholeness and healing within yourself, your relationships and your environment!

I offer both contemporary psychoanalysis and embodied psychotherapy, as appropriate, to address mind, body, and emotional issues that continue impact your current life and relationships. This approach is designed to expand treatment beyond short-lived symptom relief into transforming the actual origins of your issues, symptoms, and daily suffering. I enjoy providing support to those who are having challenges balancing their lives due to life stressors. Life stressors can include the inability to organize your daily life, make simple decisions, focus and concentrate because of areas that have become unbearable; s current loss that includes employment, a sudden death, an anniversary of a loved one passing. Children, adolescents, adults, and families that have these symptoms and who want to bring their lives back into balance are who I enjoy working with. Working together makes us a team that helps create support that brings about the balance.

Consciously, you may not know why you behave or feel as you do, but your subconscious mind knows. Hypnosis/hypnoanalysis allows you access to the realm of the problem, the subconscious. The subconscious stores feeling, memory, body monitoring, and body control. Through hypnosis, you are able to safely access; experience and release old highly charged emotional incidents. Related outworn habit patterns of thought and behavior are identified and reevaluated. New positive, growth promoting patterns are reinforced.

My passion is helping people move from a life of surviving to thriving. Most of us have found a way to "get through," yet sometimes we find ourselves feeling unfulfilled and/or overwhelmed. I enjoy working with people who want to understand the root of their symptoms and then discover new ways of living that work better for them and their values. Often people coming through my door identify concerns such as people-pleasing, a history of dysfunction in their family growing up, religious or spiritual concerns, or difficulty adjusting after a transition.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
