I have worked with several populations to include: addiction, adults, adolescence, depression, families, couples, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and borderline personality disorder.
"People only seriously consider change when they feel accepted for exactly who they are" -Carl Rogers I believe that if a person is given the appropriate environment and support they can become their best self. Together we can take a look inward and work toward developing and unlocking the best you. For years we often hold ourselves prisoner, allow me the privilege to assist with developing personal insight into past traumas and future successes. By developing the capacity to live in the moment, we tap into our 5 senses and allow ourselves to truly live in the moment free of our past or future.

Through over twenty-five years experience with diagnoses like bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, depression, and OCD I have developed a client-centered and collaborative style.
What I'm especially good at is helping people get clarity about their relationships and their boundaries. This means I work well with individuals in difficult marriages, children and parents trying to establish adult bonds, codependent people, and with anyone who wants warmer, happier, more peaceful interactions in their life. If you can't figure out why your relationships go off the rails, I can help. I like to work with adults, teens and parents, couples, minor-attracted persons (pedophiles), LGBTQ folks and people who don't know why they feel bad.

Navigating the unexpected twists of life, you find yourself in a moment that defies expectation. Whether in the throes of transition, navigating adulthood, changing professional paths, or grappling with relationships, you're in a space of uncertainty, seeking your place in the world. Perhaps, despite having all you need, a lingering emptiness persists, prompting endless scrolling and relentless pursuit of connection or material solace.

As a therapist, I try to provide my client with a calm, nurturing and safe environment. My approach is person-centered and I try to work in collaboration with my client to help them overcome the barriers of life so that they can reach their goals. Often it feels painful and difficult to challenge cognitive distortions, yet I try to assist in a kind fashion to work toward independence and growth.

I enjoy working with high achievers who are navigating the vicissitudes of life; people who want to understand themselves better; and people who, at their core want to grow in consciousness and heal heart-breaking experiences. I believe that we are spiritual beings having human experiences. The journey in consciousness involves the healing of the heart, soul, mind, and body. Such healing and integration serve to illuminate our genuine selves and brighten our inner spiritual light; a light that illuminates our true selves as soul, and by extension, our unique creativity, work, and contributions to the world.

You are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being. As a solution-focused, humanistic therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Accepting new clients - The Center for Connection, Healing & Change focuses on the creation of secure, close, and satisfying relationships- within us and between us. We choose to specialize in relationships because we know the importance of satisfying connections for our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Services explore the relationship we have with both ourselves and others; how well we can live with emotional ease, know who we are, ask for what we need, be responsive to loved ones, set boundaries, deal with loss, move through stressful experiences, find our purpose, and access resilience in moments of need.

I am offering telehealth services only. The purpose of therapy, as opposed to just talking with a friend or family member, is to facilitate personal and professional growth. This growth is typically most needed in the areas of relationships, mood, performance and an overall improved integration of one's identity and values. In order to make growth possible, one must feel safe in an objective, confidential environment. My primary goal is to offer a safe and supportive place for change. Throughout the entire process, I will encourage, guide, challenge and support you in making the changes you deem to be right for you.

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist in that I blend traditional psychotherapy with cutting edge alternative approaches and perennial techniques sourced from Eastern philosophies. I use methods depending on the needs of the person seeking help including insight oriented psychotherapy, mindfulness practice, somatic work and dreamwork. I take a non-pathology based approach in that I help clients experience their painful symptoms as a personal calling for growth and change. In therapy my work is to help my client to recognize and honor that calling.

Do you feel chronically disconnected or stuck in unhelpful patterns despite "knowing better"? This misalignment might be affecting your physical health, your relationships, your sense of self, and your visions for the future. While many of the strategies you relied upon in early life were both necessary and adaptive, they can also become what hold you back later in life. What if we explore some of your origin stories and update those defaults to better reflect who you are, instead of who you believed you had to be? What if we deepen your self-belonging, thereby strengthening your capacity to connect more effortlessly with others?

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
