I specialize in treating clients with anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder self-esteem issues, dysfunctional relationship patterns, boundary issues, and a variety of other issues. I utilize Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) and Rational Emotoive Behavior Therapy (REBT). Both of these modalities are evidence based and have been shown to be extremely effective. I know what it’s like to not be living the life you want because of these types of issues, but there is a different way. We can get there together.

Is your past is invading your present? Are your emotions overwhelming you at times? Is your self-esteem is low to non-existent? Do you often feel you are not good enough? I would love the opportunity to walk along side you as you begin to live your best life again.

A little about myself and how I got here: between losing my mom at 21 to a three year battle with cancer and being diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder shortly after, I have immense compassion for those enduring hardship and mental health struggles.
Finding the right therapist isn’t always an easy endeavor. I hope to bring a judgement free space of trust, vulnerability and mutual respect as we navigate some of life’s most difficult feelings and experiences. I incorporate CBT, ACT and ERP along with various tools I have picked up along the way to better learn how to live an abundant life alongside unwanted thoughts and emotions.

The decision to reach out for counseling can be one of the most important and helpful things you can do for your mental health and wellbeing. The process can be frightening and uncomfortable. Sometimes we have to take a step outside of our comfort zones and try something new. One of my professional goals is to help build a calm environment and strong therapeutic relationship conducive to meaningful change.

I strive to see each client as an individual with sensitivity to each person's background and therapeutic needs.

To say "things aren't always easy" is often an understatement. Sometimes things are more than hard, and may have been piling up for a while. Whether you're battling depression, anxiety, grief, or changes in life, I'm here to help. I've worked with children, teens and adults in an inpatient psychiatric hospital, where they work to sort out their struggles. I have seen the damage trauma can do to relationships, but have also seen the power in connecting with others.

Life can be difficult—full of struggles, challenges, changes, and the unexpected. We keep these events in our minds, whether at the front to consciously influence all of our decisions, or packed away in a box in a corner, to be dealt with ‘in the future’. When your box begins to overflow or you realize that it is time to open it, I’m here to help you unpack, sort, and re-pack the box. My goal is to help you regain control of the box, so that the box no longer controls you.

Anxiety can be an encompassing experience, affecting not just your thoughts and emotions, but your physical well-being too. It often creates a pervasive sense of unease that can make day-to-day life feel more challenging. You’ll often feel out of control, simply reacting to the troubles around you. But you don’t have to live like this forever.

There are times in our lives when it is necessary to seek help from a qualified mental health professional. Grief, stress, and changes in mood and health are issues that touch every life. Many individuals and couples from Longview and the surrounding communities have made tremendous changes in just a few sessions. Others, with more serious and long-standing issues, benefit from longer-term counseling and support from a therapist. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I primarily practice Cognitive Therapy, which is a form of therapy that explores the relationship between our thoughts, actions, and feelings.

Life is full of challenges and opportunities to grow. When we feel safe and secure enough to be honest with ourselves and others about what we are experiencing and what we truly value, we are more likely to be able to overcome challenges and live a more fulfilling and peaceful life. Most of us want authentic meaningful relationships, to embrace all that life has to offer, to be able to manage and learn from mistakes and difficult times, and to live a life that we can one day look back on and feel content and proud. However, often we find ourselves feeling stuck or lost along that journey and in need of some support and connection.

To all you Texas queerdos, weirdos, gamers, & outsiders, I challenge you to embrace & value your "other-ness." You may have been told you're wrong, strange, stupid, immature, selfish, etc. since you can first remember. You may think you need to constantly change yourself & what you're doing to please others - or even exist among others. You may feel you're too needy, high-maintenance, or [messed]-up compared to others around you. I see you. You don't have to keep relentlessly trying to make it on your own - this isn't a From Software game after all!

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to dismiss the importance of mental health. It’s easy to think of all the reasons not to make yourself a priority. Trying to do all the things without investing in yourself, takes a toll on your body and your mind. If you find yourself tired, numb, irritable, anxious, lacking motivation, or burned out, therapy can be a great place to start. What if you tried investing in yourself for a change?

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
