Helping others is my nature and making a difference in someone’s life is my passion. I believe the best way to do that is to provide people the skills to help themselves grow through self-acceptance and personal development. I work with clients who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, and life transitions. I am particularly interested in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. I believe, “Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are.” - Brené Brown

I've worked at multiple levels of care, and I've seen OCD & anxiety at their gnarliest. OCD is not just about germs and organization. It can include debilitating mental compulsions, taboo themes, complex presentations, and so much more. Finding therapists who "get it" can be challenging. That's where I come in.

Living with a mental health challenge like anxiety, depression, OCD, or an eating disorder can feel like carrying a boulder on your back 24/7. Of course, none of us would choose that— so it can be strange to think that it’s possible to choose something different through engaging in therapy. But the magic of neuroplasticity and therapeutic change can absolutely support you in finally setting that boulder down (or… maybe we can smash it into a million pieces together. )

I believe every patient should receive evidence based treatments which allow them the best opportunity at real and lasting recovery. This means I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure Therapy in treating OCD, Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders and Eating disorders. This allows me to be a very hands on therapist. I regularly take clients out into the community to engage in exposure therapy and behavioral activation which allows me to provide support and encouragement throughout the process. I genuinely believe that OCD, anxiety, depression and eating disorders are very treatable conditions when being treated with effective and active treatments.

As such, I offer empowerment-focused, skills-based therapy to motivated teens & adults facing anxiety in all its forms, insomnia, OCD, phobias, panic attacks, body-picking & pulling, depression, PTSD & other traumas.
You're unsettled, overwhelmed, burned out. Worst-case scenarios and defeating thoughts stop you from finding peace, and it seems like panic is becoming the norm. You avoid, distract, or argue with yourself to get some quiet, only for the process to start right back up, or worsen. You wonder, "Why can't I stop...(insert thoughts/emotions)? How come...(insert standard solution) isn't working? What's WRONG with me?!" You want to be the calm, capable, and in-control person you envision, you're just not sure where to start. But, healing IS possible and it's nearer than it seems. You've already taken the first step by considering therapy!

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
