I am a neurodiverse-affirming therapist who enjoys working with the OCD, ADHD and autism spectrum communities.
Do you ever find yourself excessively ruminating, "beating yourself up," or feeling trapped in those "worst case scenarios"? Do you talk to yourself in ways you would never talk to a friend? I'm here to help you take the first step in challenging those self-critical cycles. Together, we can start the journey of cultivating self-love and acceptance.

Accepting new clients! Your neurodivergence makes you feel "other" and "on the outside" in a world that is set up for neutrotypicals. The consistent pressure to function as if your brain is not different makes day-to-day life so exhausting you could burst. You are starting to come to terms with the fact that your intrusive thoughts and compulsions may actually be OCD, but you have no idea where to start with something that feels so big. You are tired of pretending that your partners aren't your partners when discussing... well, everything. You want to discuss the complexities and nuances of your relationships. ALL of them.

I specialize in working with people that have sought relief from anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, and NPD/emotional abuse.
I view the mental health recovery process as similar to climbing a mountain: the first steps may feel overwhelming at times, however, therapy is a partnership where I can provide tools that help my clients get where they would like to go, while also building resiliency and strength for the future. Throughout the process, I will provide encouragement and at times, remind you to look back at how far you have come. Furthermore, I provide a non-judgmental and empathic space for this journey to occur.

I specialize in treating anxiety and OCD concerns.
Anxiety can cause distressing bodily sensations and worry thoughts. It can prevent you from living life to the fullest, as you avoid situations and fear the worst. The “what if” thoughts and worse case scenarios occupy your mind, making it difficult to focus. Feeling overwhelmed and unable to focus or relax. Perfectionism leaves you constantly disappointed. Would you like to manage anxiety, rather than it managing you? Learn to live in the present and take the necessary risks for growth. Increase your tolerance of uncertainty, bodily sensations, and acceptance of the unknown. Expand your ability to cope with distress.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
