For over 25+ years, I have been providing therapy to children, adolescents and adults in the Newtown and Langhorne area . Sometimes life throws curve balls. Children and teens can struggle at home and at school. Parenting may be challenging. Separation and divorce often stresses families, and the death of someone close can leave you grieving, sad and depressed. I use my extensive experience to help you find resolution with these issues and the ability to move forward.

My ideal client would be open to change and exploring more positive ways to see themselves. My ideal client would be someone that values our time together and is present for sessions. My ideal client would be someone who can reflect from within and be willing to do the work, with a sincere desire to change their lifestyle. This client would be flexible and willing to see the other side of the coin, exploring the past and delving into the present.

I am adept at supporting clients with anxiety, depression, and trauma-related symptoms, seeking greater self-awareness, clarity, and insight about their current struggles and how to shift them. My ideal client is motivated to change and is interested in co-creating the goals to work towards that change, with the ultimate aim being to reduce distress and build/nurture a rich and meaningful life. I often suggest homework to help practice the skills we are learning together in session. Many people who seek mental health services struggle to find a clinician who is both personable and effective. The most important factor in therapeutic success is the therapeutic relationship. I am not the right fit for everyone, but finding the right professional is key. My work includes working with difficult to treat individuals as well as those who have experienced previous treatment failures. I am also a forensic psychologist and conduct evaluations of individuals involved with the legal system and often provide expert testimony. If you think I might be able to help you achieve your therapeutic goals, please contact me.

Welcome! In my view, therapy is like a journey, and whether you begin that journey with a specific destination in mind or are just trying to get a move on, I can help shed new light and give you tools to navigate old territory and new horizons. My approach is pragmatic - unassuming but not naive, and compassionate but also candid.

That's where I come in as a licensed psychotherapist as well as a medical social worker. Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
