Do you feel stuck in an endless web of worries? You may be struggling with intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, or daily feelings of numbness. Every day is an uphill battle. You are exhausted and tired of hiding your emotions, and you wonder if things will ever get better. You feel alone and hopeless, desperate to find answers. Know that you're not alone. My passion lies in empowering individuals to break free from the paralyzing effects of OCD, anxiety, and depression. I also treat individuals with PTSD utilizing Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidenced-based treatment modality.

More importantly, for problems like anxiety, panic, PTSD, OCD, and more, it simply works.
When we try to control or avoid anxiety, thoughts, memories, and difficult emotions it doesn't work. Troubling thoughts and memories keep intruding, depression worsens, panic attacks happen more, and urges to do troubling compulsions or rituals become stronger. The funny thing is every other situation in daily life avoiding and fixing problems is very effective, such as fixing a flat tire so we can drive again or leaving town to avoid a hurricane. When we try this with our thoughts and feelings we get stuck, feel hopeless, and continue to suffer. Estranging us from the people, places, and activities that we cared about most.

Come as you are to this space and be accepted. While the goals of therapy for each individual vary, a common goal is to be able to experience a range of emotions and have the tools and skills to cope with them. I am here to support you in this journey, regardless of what place you are starting from. I work with two main groups of people. The first being children aged 1-10 and their families, usually on the topics of neurodivergence (specifically ADHD and OCD), attachment and relationship, foster care and adoption. The second group being adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, chronic health challenges, and parenting.

I specialize in ERP, a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that is evidence-based and used to treat Anxiety Disorders and OCD.
This “being human thing” is hard, and often feels uncomfortable. Sometimes the “uncomfortable” is experienced internally, sometimes externally, and sometimes both. This is a result of our actual or perceived response to the past, present, or future. Our work together will be focused on helping you to be “uncomfortable on purpose,” through identifying your values, increasing your capacity to tolerate uncertainty, processing what has maintained your current ways of living, and learning how to engage with yourself and others in a way that makes this “being human thing” a little bit easier.

The impact of anxiety on our ability to function and maintain quality of life can be profound. Fear and worry can lead to significant avoidance, which can take more and more of our time and ability to engage in the things that should bring us joy. The good news is, these disorders are treatable. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure & Response Prevention are considered the most effective treatments for OCD and other anxiety disorders. I specialize in the treatment of these disorders using CBT & ERP and am committed to helping those with anxiety work to build the tools and understanding necessary to overcome these disorders.

I have seen clients with OCD, PTSD, Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety improve significantly, even if they have not had results before.
People often consider therapy because they want to achieve a goal (satisfying job, rewarding relationships) or because they have had an experience they want to talk through in private. I consider therapy a success when you leave feeling capable of being your own therapist. I work on a client’s capacity to independently manage their feelings and problems. I want you to be able to adapt to reality on its own terms so that you can build a meaningful and sustainable life. To do this I take an approach that is interactive, transparent, and conversational. I am currently licensed in California, Washington, Oregon, and Texas.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
