I work with adult clients via telehealth who may be struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression, new medical diagnoses, and life transitions.
I invite you to be brave and take some time to focus on yourself and your goals. Counseling can be a wonderful bridge in helping us work towards living lives with more contentment, ease, and intentionality. I aim to provide a safe counseling environment that is focused on sharing warmth, humor, authenticity, deep listening, and empathy with others. I deeply believe in the potential that each of us has to make meaningful changes and work towards that which feels important to us. We will work together to explore the challenges you may be facing at this time and develop effective strategies that can make daily life easier.

These disorders include but are not limited to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder & Anxiety due to transitions such as divorce, job loss & loss of a loved one.
My ideal client would be one who is willing to put in the effort it takes to achieve a healthy and happy mental status. Not every population I see has this mindset. I believe that by building trust and rapport as well as by the client seeing their own progress, the motivation to reach their personal goals will increase. I have worked with patients as young as 2 and as old as 72 with varying issues. Although I am trained to work with most populations and feel comfortable doing so, my specialty lies with those suffering from anxiety.

My practice is dedicated to the treatment of complex forms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and related conditions. I use an innovative approach, known as Inferential- Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), which was developed for the treatment of OCD specifically. ICBT focuses on a doubting process, unique to obsessions, where reality and perception are overridden by imagined, irrelevant and/or implausible. ICBT is a remarkable "game-changer" for those suffering from severe OCD. ICBT also adds great value to older generations of CBT commonly used to treat other forms of anxiety

Quality of life is something for which we all strive and can include social and interpersonal, occupational, mental, and physical well-being. We all have the capacity to improve the quality of life, but sometimes this involves making some changes. Changes may include altering our situation or responding differently to things that come up in our lives. Change can be difficult, maybe because we do not know what needs to change or because we are trying to make those changes without support. Dr. Moquin helps you to identify what you want to change and supports you in making those changes.

I believe that human suffering happens when the way we live our lives falls out of alignment with our internal compass. We are inherently driven to self-actualize and become the best version possible of ourselves; however, the reality is that we live in a very complex world that often steers us away from what we value. We often fall into this trap and begin to chase what society deems valuable, while being convinced that it's our true calling. This behavioral pattern is often piloted by our anxieties and relational trauma, which is what I am most fluent in, as a fellow human first, and a therapist second.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
